Bought this a couple of weeks ago. The box arrived, from UPS, severely damaged. I am less than happy with UPS (that is a different review), however Brian, the driver was excellent.
Opened the box while the driver was present, it appeared that the damage was confined the the portion of the carton where the flex hose was packed.
Unfortunately it turned out that the base was bent as well as the two ring supports. The supports were bent such that if i had straightened them they would have broken.
I will just say that working with Grizzly was a breeze, they were terrific, will buy from them again.
The 1028Z2 assembled easily, the Grizzly manual far exceeds Jessem, Jet, or HF for clarity. I would change the order of some assembly steps, but that is a nit.
The unit immediately popped my 15 amp breaker, but ran well on a 20 amp breaker. No problem with this.
This is my first experience with a DC, so i have no reference to compare this unit to. However, using a clear 10' flex hose connected the 4" port on my band saw picked up virtually all the dust. Same, using a 2-1/2 10' flex hose can be said of my 2-1/2" equipment, table saw and router table had virtually no dust.
I gave this 4 stars, instead of 5 because i don't know how it compares to other units and i have not owned it long enough to determine reliability.
I do wish i would have purchased this unit years ago.
I bought this dust collector when I purchased a G1023RL table saw in December of 2016. I converted the motor to 240V using the diagrams in the instruction manual. I built a collection system serving eight stations for various machines and am very pleased as it has all but eliminated dust in the shop. Great product.
Like the product. Be aware that there are extra charges regarding the product requiring a lift gate truck that you're not made aware of until you check out. As such the shipping is more than you think. I did not purchase this because I could get it off the semi truck myself but be aware.
I bought this product to replace my delta dust collector that died. This has 1/2 HP more at a lower price. The instructions were clear and it took about an hour to have it up and running. It works great and its a lot quieter than my previous one.
So far so good. I am concerned about a youtube video which indicates that the machine tends to trip a breaker when operating the collector at temperatures below the mid 50's. Are you aware of this potential problem?
I purchased this machine 1 month ago. It came with all the parts in good condition. It was very easy to assemble and took no time at all. The driver couldn't have been any nicer. I have used it several times and am very pleased with the suction and the ease with which it switches from one piece of equipment to another
Easy to set up, quiet, and does the job. Just starting to collect all my equipment after learning woodworking with my father in law for the past two years. This dust collector is a great addition for the newbies like me.
Great product, assembled quite easily, all the parts were there. It has very good suction[I have 5 machines hooked to it]. A really great buy.
Just put it together and ran it, it is not to load and works great. Can't wait to start my next project. Thanks
Have had for about 4 weeks now and seems to be plenty of collector for the one man shop. using it on only my table saw right now but planning on installing a system as soon as I have the time
This is about the best DC you'll find for the money. It has great power, and the fact that it runs on 120 volts is good for a shop like mine that doesn't have enough 220 volt access. I've hooked it up to my spiral cutterhead jointer to face joint wide poplar boards and had almost no chips left at the cutterhead (this with it pulling through a shopmade separator that is somewhat less than efficient). I would buy it again!
I am really glad I purchased this model, it is just the right size for my shop. Cleanup after a project is now minimal. It has the right footprint, power requirements and most important great suctioning power. It was also in a good price range. Instructions to assemble the unit were clear and easy to understand.
I also have a bigger one for table saw and jointer, but this works perfectly with my new drum sander that is in another room. Can't say anything negative, but wish I could find a 6" elbow
My G1028Z2 arrived Tuesday as promised. The crate was in good condition and the driver helped me unload the unit. All the parts were included and it assembled just as described in the instructions. The instructions are well written and illustrated. I am impressed by the finish and fit of the parts. Everything looks right for the job.
When I started the dust collector, I was glad I had not ordered the larger (2 hp.) unit. This one (1 1/2 hp.) has plenty of power and will do everything I need in my small shop. I connected my band saw and was very pleasantly surprised to find NO dust inside the saw after about a half-hour of use.
The G1028Z2 dust collector is a quality product that will improve the performance of my shop.
Thank you for your attention.
