This magnetic combination square includes rare earth magnets, which are up to 10 times more powerful than conventional magnets, but it's hard to describe until you actually use one. And with grab-and-hold power like this, they provide an excellent way to move the ruler and "lock" it in place without the need for a mechanical fastener. Just slide the ruler to the desired position and let go. The rare earth magnets made from an alloy including Neodymium iron are strong enough to hold the ruler securely in place. The ruler is made of stainless steel with permanently etched incremental measurements. The body of the square is cast zinc and milled on five sides for dead-on accuracy. And there's a glass vial for checking level and plumb. Measure, square, level, and plumb — that's why you need the Bora Combination Square.

Great square
5/ 5stars

I purchased this because it didn't have the typical thumbscrew used to tighten the blade in position on most squares. The magnet that holds the ruler is strong and does the job of holding the ruler in place very well. (In fact, I found it takes a little practice to be able to set the ruler at a specific inch line.) The magnet also holds a small scribe (included with the square) in place. The body of the square is well-machined and the finish looks like it will last. The level in the body is parallel to the long, flat side of the body, thus actually useful. The ruler is marked in 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 increments, with the 1/16 indications being on both sides of the ruler. The numbers and lines are etched into the blade so they won't rub off with use. The ruler sits square to the body. It also comes with a case that covers the body to provide protection and perhaps to keep other metal objects from attaching to the square. Out of the box it is as "square" as the Starrett square I have.
