The control box is somewhat flimsy and can be easily knocked off. Maybe longer wires would allow to mount it under the workbench away from saw dust .The bed extension had to have at least two guide pins for alignment . Small plastic locks, God grant them long life. Motor runs smooth and speed control is ok. AL-X
Everything looks good. Have not had a chance to use it yet. Very pleased with order process and answers to my earlier questions. BTW, can a reversing switch be added to this lathe? It has a DC motor and it would seem to me that a switch and or switch/relay combo having current capability in excess of 10 amps would do the job. Your comments please.
I like this lathe alot. I have used it almost everyday since I got it with zero problems. Works great if you dont have alot of space I can pick it up and move out of the way.
Still learning to turn square wood into round wood. Lathe works great so far.
Had lathe for a over a month and use it almost every day. This is my first lathe and am still going thru a learning curve on how to best secure stock for turning, keeping tools sharp and so forth. Broke the tool rest being too aggressive on a large hunk of hardwood. Had to make a custom tool rest to fit into deeper bowl cavities. Although it is possible to turn stock 12 inches in diameter, the tool rest body cannot ride under stock that thick. While there are 3 belt pulley speed settings I found using anything beyond the low setting will cause the lathe to vibrate excessively until the stock gets trimmed round and balanced. This with the lathe bolted down to a solid workbench. Once the bowl is turned I can crank up the speed knob for the sanding. Guess if I were turning pens and not bowls from tree chunks these problems would not have occurred. The lathe is well built and I am happy with it.
This is a great lathe. extremely well made and very well aligned.. HOWEVER, I am on my second one. They come packed in a thin cardboard box and nested in a couple inches of styrofoam. My first one had been dropped upside down from quite a distance onto concrete and the box was damaged. Not only that but the head and tailstocks were badly bend and not usable. As always customer service was great and I got a second one quickly but what a hastle!
I got this for Christmas last month, I am a beginner on the lathe. Very easy setup, the lathe runs smooth and quiet, only problem is that I didn't buy enough accessories...
This is my first lathe purchase. The T25920 is a nice starter lathe. As a beginner in woodworking, it was very easy to set up and get going. This is not a top of the line lathe as far as quality of workmanship, but it gets the job done at a very reasonable price.
I would definitely recommend this lathe to anyone just getting started. I also bought the bed extension, which is a must if you want to make a ball bat. Happy turning.
