Bought this lathe less than a month ago. Pleased with the lathe , but it does not seem to display inches with the DRO (only metric) readout. That would have been important to know before buying as I would not have purchased the lathe including the DRO. Because of that I only gave it 3 stars. If someone can tell me how to display inches instead of metric I will give it 5 stars.
This lathe is pretty good for the price, very accurate with the DRO. I had some trouble with the coolant pump and the terminal block on the drive motor, both resolved fairly quickly by Grizzly. The only minor complaints I have are the hand dials, they're not very accurate (I checked them against the DRO and a dial indicator) and would be a problem if the DRO stopped working, and it's just a little noisier than I would like. I did run the break-in procedure, and it may quiet down a little more with time, it's not that bad, and maybe Grizzly could make a more accurate set of dials available.
Purchased Dec 15, 2016 The lathe was delivered 4 days after ordering. I was very happy with quality of crating. After getting lathe fastened to floor and leveled, ran the breakin, changed oil in gearbox. The lathe runs quiet and run out so far is very good. The manual for the DRO is not very good but a couple searches on internet answered my questions. overall very pleased with lathe.
After leveling (no small feat) and running the break in procedure. Checked runnout on chuck (almost zero) and tailstock alignment, really happy with the unit. one grip, the coolant flexible nozzle leaks like a sieve, replaced it with a flexible plastic piece.
it's early yet , only a few hours on it but it still has some gear noise , manual is good but has some room for improvement [ read it twice before starting ] overall good machine for the price and features you can't beat it
