Pleasure to use
5/ 5stars

Bought this saw to replace my aging Craftsman band saw. Way better saw than that craftsman. Should have done it a long time ago. Heavy cast-iron construction which makes this so very stable. For the money I don't think you can buy a better saw.

Love it
5/ 5stars

Have now had a chance to work with this bandsaw and I️ wonder now how I️ got along so long without one. It arrived quickly, Assembly and setup was a bit of a challenge with one persons but only took about 45 minute to an hour to assemble and then another hour to go through the checkout and setup. Great Buy as usual from Grizzly

Great Bandsaw
5/ 5stars

This is the first bandsaw I’ve owned and ordered it based on the reviews. I initially looked at other brands online, but many of the reviews mentioned missing parts or difficult to assemble. The Grizzly band saw went together perfectly. Best of all, it works even better than it was to assemble. I would recommend this excellent addition to any shop.

cut things to size

I received it last month and it is a main piece of my new shop.

Grizzly band saw, Quality
5/ 5stars

This is my 2nd Grizzly 14” bandsaw I’ve owned. It does everything I need and more.

This Bandsaw is GREAT!
5/ 5stars

This is the best band saw I have ever owned. Everything was packed with care and the shipping was very fast. For the most part the saw was already together and it is a 2 man job to set the saw on the stand. The stand is very well made and does not wobble like some stands do. All in all this seems to be a very well built machine. The dust collection isn't the greatest but I can live with that. It makes very little noise when running. The one thing that I wish it would of had is a light. I really didn't want to spend what I paid for this saw, but I am sure glad I did. And one more thing, make sure you get a good blade to put on this saw. The one that was on mine wasn't worth putting on the saw.

Excellent Product
4/ 5stars

The only issue is dust collection is not that great.

Also I just wish they would sell the band saw with the riser block configuration. Ii could have saved me some costs on the original blade and guards that now serve no purpose.

5/ 5stars

Easy to assemble. Looks good. Looking forward to using on winter time projects.

Very happy with this bandsaw
5/ 5stars

I've had this bandsaw for a couple of months and am very happy with it. It did seem a little fussy to set up, but once that was finished it has worked fine. The included blade makes a nice cut but is pretty slow for ripping, That was expected; I will be getting a different blade for ripping and expect the saw to perform just as well.

5/ 5stars

Getting the bearings adjusted was cumbersome . Aligning the blade on the flywheels the wheels should have a stop ridge on one side .

Just what we needed
5/ 5stars

We have changed all our saws to Grizzly. Quality saw, good price, and easy to purchase replacement parts.

A good bandsaw at a fair price --- couldn't be happier
5/ 5stars

After much deliberation, I took the plunge and purchased the Anniversary Edition of the 14-inch Bandsaw. Delivery was by UPS Freight to a terminal about 45 minutes from home. But I saved on the tail-gate fee when the UPS loaded the saw into my SUV with using a fork-lift. Assembly of the base was straightforward and easily mounted on my homebuilt movable base. I did need help lifting the heavy saw onto the base. The saw itself was easy to assemble and adjust --- just follow the well-written instructions. And, the first trail cut was perfect. Now I can start re-sawing the walnut that has been drying in my shed over the past three years.

4/ 5stars

The best band saw I've ever owned. Thought the instruction manual could use some improvement... But overall, an excellent product.

G0555LANV 14" Deluxe Bandsaw - Anniversary Edition
5/ 5stars

I hit the wrong button earlier. This machine is very nice and I am very pleased. Does all I need to do. As said before assembly of this thing is much easier with two people. Very heavy. The videos are very helpful and we were up and running is about 2 hours. I may buy some addition blades, but for now the one supplied is fine. Definitely would recommend this bandsaw. Good price, fast delivery. The UPS freight guy was wonderful.

5/ 5stars

I've had it about a month now and it has been incredible. I upgraded from a small benchtop model and man what a difference it makes. I never knew how much I would use a bandsaw. I have used it in all capacities from tight curves with a 1/8 in blade to resawing and haven't had any issues. Really enjoy the product.

5/ 5stars

I'm very happy with the purchase is a Good machine, I recommend it.

5/ 5stars

Bought the band saw in April and received it in September after a wait. Grizzly called and asked if I would accept an anniversary edition of the 555 band saw instead of the LX. It is a beautiful version of the same saw and I am quite pleased with how it operates. Smooth as silk, fun to set up and cuts great. Buy this machine. Either model will make you smile. Delivery was a great experience with calls and dropped inside my garage work shop.

Far beyond expectations.
5/ 5stars

Everything about this bandsaw is top quality. Adjustments are easy. And it cuts like a charm!

Worth every penny & more.
5/ 5stars

I build wooden toy trucks and planes, and always wanted a better band saw then a Sears Cheapo. Approx: 620.00 with taxes and a extra blade by the time it got home. But OMG what a great tool, it has saved me so much time and my quality is definitely up as is my turn around times and as I am doing 14+ 24" long wooden trucks of different types for Christmas this thing is a life saver. Best investment I have made in a while.

Best saw ever
5/ 5stars

I honestly think this is the best saw I've ever used. I like that I can hear my radio over it, and changing the blades is so easy.

I love this saw
5/ 5stars

Excellent product. After I got it assembled I was able to begin my waiting projects right away. Great power and precision.

Great Bandsaw
5/ 5stars

I haven't used it a lot. But it has performed flawlessly so far. Very happy.

Wow! It works as well in use as it does in the vidieos.
5/ 5stars

I bought a competitors 14" saw rather than the GO555LANV based on what looked like a compareable product at a lower price. What a mistake! The thrust bearing at the back edge of the saw blade is too small in diameter and not lubed. It wore out in a hurry. Got the Grizzley just to prevent using a big hammer on the first saw. (total frustration) This is a great saw, works very well. Quiet, smooth operation. Very easy to set up out of the box. Useable, straight forward adjustments of all components. I use it to make parts for a Mountain Dulcimer.

Great quality and value
5/ 5stars

Working with different types of tools over 50 years I have a great appreciation for the feel and workings of a quality tool. This saw is excellent in quality. I would expect this level of quality to be much more expensive therefore a great value for the dollar.

5/ 5stars

I always wanted a much better band saw than the 9 inch one I had used for years. This one fits the bill, it is a great product and has plenty of power. I am still getting used to it but I can already tell you that I would not trade it for another one. It is the perfect combination of power and features but small enough to use a mobile cart due to my smaller shop size Great tool.

Always wanted a bandsaw
5/ 5stars

Retired finally and built a work shop for myself. Looked long and hard to find a bandsaw with the features I wanted. Grizzly was the only saw that met all my desires. The cast wheels take longer to start and stop but it keeps on cutting the hardest of woods. The quick release feature was a bonus. The guides have 3 roller bearings on the top traveler and 3 on the bottom. It does not take long to make proper adjustments with the fine tune screws. Release the side bearings and adjust one at a time and listen for sound. When running true it will gently sing to you with a tiny chirp where the band is welded. The fence and push bar are very well adapted to the table. Buy at least 3 or more additional blades of various sizes as I did. Get the mobile base too because this unit is top heavy and you will want to move it one day. Have a friend on stand-by for when it comes in. The anniversary is the same as the other 14" but the black color scheme looks nice in my shop. Staff were friendly and helpful with my purchase.

Assembled & inservice
5/ 5stars

I have assembled my new band saw and adjusted the required items and have used it and I can say I am satisfied with the quality and would recommend this model to someone looking for a saw well above the big box store models available everywhere.
The order disk was courteous and helpful ( I ordered additional blades). The shipping was on time and as described on the web site.
The owners manual was very helpful and detailed (although it was under the saw in the packing crate).
I had not used an upright band saw in over 55 years so I needed to go slowly through the setup and adjustment steps (several times) to get it ready to use.
On my first cuts I noted that the cutting area could benefit from a light, even though my shop area is well lit. So I bought a cheap battery LED light, mounted it on a left-over cabinet door hinge to the upper wheel guard door. It folds flat (almost) against the door when not in use and gives much needed light at the blade.
The lower wheel housing has a 4" dust collector port on the back, with a spider cross spanning the opening. As I work in model ship building my shop does not have a 4" collection system so I use a small shop vac with a 1-1/4" hose. I was not satisfied with the efficiency of the collection so I hooked my larger shop vac with a 2" hose and still not great collection. I thought long and hard about removing that spider cross from the opening. Seeing no alternative, gone went the spider but the collection is still not the best.
Maybe if I had a 4" system but ...............
This model comes with a tension release lever (as most band saws do) but I found that it drops the upper wheel so far that the blade can (and did) slip almost off the wheel. So I had to open the upper door and turn the wheel by hand after resetting the tension lever to make sure the blade was in the middle of the tire. So I fashioned a small block of wood to prevent the lever from fully dropping the upper wheel. And now the tension is released but the blade stays in contact with the tire (but I look at it anyway).
My last comment is about the very sturdy fence system. However, it is so tall that it is prevented from being set closer than 1-1/2" from the blade when the blade guide assembly is lowered for a thin work piece. As I will be cutting thin material often less than 1-1/2' wide I made a strip of 1/4" thick x 1-1/2" wide masonite the length slightly longer then the table with a block glued under the end over hanging the near side of the table. I call it my fence extension.
Now, on the the next project.

Very nice piece of equipment!
5/ 5stars

I purchased this band saw as an upgrade from a smaller 10" saw. The quality and accuracy of the Grizzly band saw exceeded my expectations.
It arrived as scheduled, everything was packaged well, with no missing parts or damage. Assembly was easy and was completed with no issue.
A bonus is the fantastic quality of the paint and graphics. A great looking machine!

Great saw

5/ 5stars

Excellent band saw for what it is. Takes some time and patience to setup correctly. Dust collection needs some improvement.

5/ 5stars

The anniversary 14 inch bandsaw has worked out better than my best expectations. I also ordered the six inch riser bar. Again, easy to install and works as advertised. Great saw, but poor blades. I would highly recommend this saw to anyone.

Awesome saw
5/ 5stars

Been using my band saw for mostly ripping logs and making jewelry boxes. This is a top notch saw. very easy to set up and use. recommend adding the six inch extension immediately!

Fantastic bandsaw with excellent value
5/ 5stars

I bought this model over the Rikon 14" and I'm glad I did. The many reviews of this saw online are overwhelmingly positive and well deserved. The packaging is terrific, several inches of form fitting foam protects the saw during shipping, and assembly is quick and easy. Once the saw is properly tuned you'll be making accurate cuts with little blade drift in no time (I like using Alex Snodgrass' method over the one outlined in the instructions).

Why did I wait so long?
5/ 5stars

After struggling for 12 years with a HF saw and ruining countless pieces of wood and antler (I make custom knives and handcrafted furniture), I finally had enough and ordered this saw based on reviews and being on sale. Set up was a breeze but got to have help getting top on base. Total setup time, maybe 90 min. Video on website most helpful in alignment of guides. First three antlers through hardly needed sanding they were so straight. Hardest exotic woods, same thing, straight and smooth. Why did I wait so long and sacrifice so much good material trying to get along with that old saw is a question I will ask myself every time I use this saw.

5/ 5stars

Although I had to wait on backorder for this bandsaw, I am very happy with my first Grizzly purchase. The saw itself was straight forward to setup. The tension release lever is nice. The blade that came with it isn't the greatest but it works fine for cutting out plywood. I use a Timber Wolf 1/2" for ripping and resawing and 3/16" for curves.

I like it just wished it had a light on it

It is a very nice Band-Saw, very well put together, heavy, no vibrations and clean cut - can be adjusted to re-saw 12" for a few dollars more. The most important thing is the support from Grizzly, their Website and their customer service is outstanding - Thank you folks at Grizzly

I receive the saw Used my Tractor with forks to unload it from the truck. It took my brother and I 3hrs. to put it together. Works great glad I bought one. It was packed well and I bought it on sale $50.00 off. Good buy.

Yes this is a great product.

It was easy to assemble. Had to ask for help from son. Getting OLD?
Very fast delivery. I was greatly surprised.

Thank You

Great product

Bought the saw a month ago and assembled it, haven't had time to fine tune it yet but did some test cuts. Everything is in fine working order and looks to be an excellent purchase.

Blade won't stay true.

The blade wheels were not even close to alignment. Still can't get this to work correctly when cutting curved pieces.

Super machine!!!! I woodwork for a living selling on Etsy and this was a much needed purchase. This machine literally cuts out 2-3 hours a day of handwork for me! This machine has everything you would be looking for in a top quality bandsaw. Buy a nice blade for this right off the bat and you will be happy you did. I have a Grizzly drum sander and spindle sander along with this bandaw and just my opinion as someone who spends 10-12 hours a day in the woodshop, i would highly recommend you buy anything that they sell here!

My First Bandsaw
4/ 5stars

Full disclosure, I don't know a whole lot about bandsaws other than...I really wanted one. I'd been to Woodcraft, looked at the Rikon's, the JET's, the Laguna' a LOT of online reviews, magazine reviews etc... In short, I spent long 6 months looking for one that I can learn on and then keep using.

To that end, you can't beat the price for what you get. I paid the extra for the lift service off the truck, the details said it would arrive between 1200 and 1400 and we'd get a call to confirm. The SAIA semi showed up w/ all of 5 minutes notice when they called. That's a first. Stuff is NEVER delivered on time, especially to me...that's like a rule. The driver was amazing and even dragged the pallet up into the garage...who does this anymore?

I took my time putting this beast together. The stand is a bear to assemble (even has a bear decal too) and takes a lot of patience. The bolts are not the problem, it's the nuts that screw on and quite a number of them are in the darnedest locations where the metal is crimped due to the design. After that, get the help to lift the primary unit onto the stand and bolt it down. If you don't have a permanent location for this, put the stand on a mobile base first and lock it down. After that, read the rest of the instructions again...and again....and again.

There are a couple of problems with the book in general. First, some of the pictures just look backwards and the parts diagram at the back could be clearer and not so small. This is just a minor gripe. Next, the trunnion base does not come attached to the table - for obvious reasons. That same trunnion base came with the positive stop bolt already attached to it. At the time, I had no idea what a positive stop bolt was. When I got to step 9 on page 17 looking at figure 14 where it shows you how to attach the trunnion base to the saw body, there is no positive stop bolt. It's not mentioned I removed it. Don't do that. On page 27, you get to the Table Tilt Calibration and that's where you find out what that positive stop bolt is for...and you have to remove the table from the trunnion base as it's not designed to do that function from the bottom. Other than that the book is great.

Attaching the table to that trunnion base also requires some patience as well. Then the capper. You have to align the table. To do that there are 6 flange bolts to loosen and then tighten. The ever helpful picture of figure 40 on page 29 shows half of those bolts. When you have to do it, you'll know why. You can't take a picture of the other 3 bolts, maybe two of them, the backmost bolt on the right side as you face table is literally impossible to get to. You will need a really long, really thin tool to get back there and turn it the 1/32 of an inch....over and over and over and over and over and over, align the table and tighten, over and over and over and over and over and over. That's a design flaw, IMHO, there must be a better way.

My only other gripe is the casting of the blade guide assembly. Page 26, figure 33, instructs you on adjusting the blade guide bearings. There should be a warning associated with step 3 where it tells you to loosen the locking cap screw. You have to make sure the screw is in the threads at the rear of the guide shaft bracket that holds the two guide bearings. Why? Because if you don't and you turn the cap screws for the alignment..... That's what I did.

To be fair, I imagine a lot of bandsaw pro's are shaking their heads about that. How could you be so stupid? Well, now I know.... Buuuuuuuut, the casting of that metal piece and the rest of the blade guide parts is not iron but some odd aluminum alloy that appeared quite brittle at the snap point...looked like fused gray sand. If it needs to be somewhat flexible there, then it should be aluminum or tin or some other soft metal rather than whatever it actually is.

Contacted the really helpful folks at support, new part in 5 days (weekend interfered)...working bandsaw! And I haven't cut off any fingers yet either!

I also liked that you can rewire the motor to convert it to 220 should the occasion arise. Very, very nice.

So now it's off to a Wood class to learn how to use it properly before I hurt myself. ;-)

Great saw
5/ 5stars

This is my first bandsaw and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. I ordered the saw and extension kit at the same time. Setup took me a few hours. My only complaint is the blade that comes with it is pretty much garbage from the beginning. Once I upgraded blades it was great.

Excellent saw!
5/ 5stars

Excellent saw! My only complaint is there needs to be better set up instructions for the initial set up of the saw.

Great product and excellent value
5/ 5stars

Everything about this saw is quality right down to its stand. You can't go wrong buying one of these for your shop, and look around you won't find a 14" bandsaw of this quality and features at a better price. I expect to get many years of service from this fine piece of machinery.

Awesome Bandsaw!!!
5/ 5stars

Although a small snafu occurred with the shipment (no fault of Grizzly) I got my saw a day later than expected but still earlier than originally anticipated. WELL WORTH THE WAIT, let me tell you. Let me start by saying the quality of this bandsaw matches the price point. I built my own mobile base for it and had it in operation within a couple of hours. I had no help but I would advise if you can, get a helper. I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I had looked at the big box stores like HD and Lowes but didn't like the quality vs price point. I've had my fill of buying poor quality tools only to be frustrated and still having to spend even more money to get the end results I wanted so this was a no brainer from the beginning. I have no doubt my next quality tool will come from Grizzly. I haven't had to contact Grizzly for customer service but I don't foresee any problems with that based on other customer reviews. I look forward to many years of service from my new bandsaw. It's nice to know there's at least one company out there that gives you a high quality, well manufactured power tool for you hard earned money. Thanks Grizzly for being that company. I look forward to doing business with you again real soon!

Great bandsaw
5/ 5stars

The saw is wonderful but almost too "pretty " to use

A Little Disappointed
2/ 5stars

This bandsaw is a good-looking one, but seems a little under-powered.
I had trouble get the blade tracking true, but a call to tech support took
care of that. The tech support guy was fantastic.

Truthfully, I wish I had not bought this saw. I need one, so I'll use this one, but I will be looking
for another one. Wish I could return it.

4/ 5stars

My initial reaction to the Grizzly bandsaw I bought is positive. I need to use it more before I can write a detailed opinion.

Really nice bandsaw
5/ 5stars

Works perfectly. Easy assembly with great instructions. A very high quality machine.

5/ 5stars

A tool I really needed for my rustic cedar furniture projects. Prompt delivery. Heavy solid construction.

5/ 5stars

Bought this saw to replace an old Menard's brand saw. Every aspect of this is better than the old one. The dust collection port is not perfect but is better than nothing. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Better than great product
5/ 5stars

I bought this bandsaw about 4-5 months ago. I have had several bandsaws that cost over twice what this one did but I have never had a better machine. This saw has everything updated and runs great, cuts accurately and I am only on my second blade. I use this saw nearly every day and it does anything I need doing. I used it in place of my chop saw and my table saw because it is so convenient. Great too and the 30th Anniversary model is the greatest.

Excellent bandsaw, great value!
5/ 5stars

This is a well designed, precision bandsaw.
I'm very happy with it and it works smoothly with plenty of power with all woods including thick hardwoods.
I also bought the resaw fence options and it cuts clean and straight for resaw usage.
The Wolf blades work well too.
I like the adjustment features, although the ball bearing guides are a bit finicky to get just right and tend to make a lot of noise if not adjusted to spin with the right blade positioning. They are pretty noisy and get jammed up if not cleaned regularly.
All in all, one of my favorite tools in my shop.

Good Product
4/ 5stars

I got this as a gift from my wife and have used it for some resawing and a few small decorative projects. All worked well except that one of the blade support bearings was bad from the git-go and had to be replaced. Just a simple call to Grizzly an a brief discussion had a replacement bearing set on the way. No problems since then.

Quality bandsaw
5/ 5stars

Shipping was quick, but as usual, the packaging was damaged in shipment. Luckily nothing inside was damaged.
I also got the riser and mobile base at the time of purchase. Two must have items for me.
Like others have suggested, the saw blade that comes with it is crap. Okay for set up, (and that is pushing it!) but not good for real sawing.
Bought a couple of timberwolf blades, a 105" - 1/4-6 TPI for standard work, and a 105" 1/2-3 TPI for resaw. (105" blade is used with a riser)
What a difference the timberwolf blade makes!!! cuts 3/4" plywood like butter. I agree with others, replace the blade when you get the saw.
The only reason I can think of for using the blade that comes with the saw, is so you can appreciate what a difference a real blade makes after you replace the blade with a quality one.
Converted the saw to 220v while putting it together. very easy to do. (I think the saw runs much better on 220v.)
As some has suggested, putting the saw on the stand is a two man job. If you care about your back at all, get help.
For first time buyers, plan on spending time setting up the saw properly. read up on it and watch videos. As with any bandsaw, the saw will not function well if poorly setup.
My wife loves the bear. I love the saw, so I guess we are both happy.

5/ 5stars

Great saw! Easy to work with and has enough power for most work applications.

Great product!
5/ 5stars

Purchased this about one and half months ago. We added the 6" riser and so far this machine is awesome! Use it mostly for our wood lathe projects. Only setback was no hardware came for the base. We purchased it locally.

Great value in a bandsaw
5/ 5stars

Excellent bandsaw. Once I got it set up and adjusted it cut with great precision. Runs nice and quiet. Great finish but it attracts dust.

Wonderful saw
5/ 5stars

I purchased my saw about 2 months ago. It has been a joy to use! It is an excellent saw easy to adjust and use. The videos are excellent to assist in putting it together and initial adjustment.

Great product and quality. would recommend to others.

very good
5/ 5stars

Seems pretty good so far. Easy to assemble and cuts hardwood with no problems.

5/ 5stars

Easy to assemble but requires some help to put the top assembly on.
The adjustment directions are necessary to get it to work properly but they are required to get proper operation.
The videos on the site are also good and clear and easy to follow.

Great saw. Was easy to assemble with good instructions. Love my saw.

Exactly What I Wanted
4/ 5stars

Very happy with the quality of the product, simple assembly, and great support for the two times I called about adjustments.

Great Value
4/ 5stars

Very happy with this saw's power and features. Dust collection isn't very efficient. Dust piles up at the opposite end from the dust port. This is my third piece of equipment from Grizzly and every one of the shipments have been damaged to the point where I needed to replace a part or bend something back to its original shape to get the right fit. Grizzly should consider changing freight company.

Awsome saw
5/ 5stars

I've had this saw a month now and love it. It has been on my wish list for quite awhile. So when it came up on sale, I figured now is the time.
It arrived in a timely manner, no damage. I was surprised at how heavy it was. Easy to assemble and adjust. The next thing I think I will
purchase is the riser block kit and taller fence. I had never resawed before and with this saw and the correct blade it's a snap. I think this saw will last forever.

Extremely happy with this bandsaw.
5/ 5stars

Well made product. Arrived on time & set up was easy. Only downside is the color!! Gloss black is pretty but very hard to keep dust free.

worth every penny

Great Saw

Could not be happier with this bandsaw.
I understand why shipping is so high, but honestly, it prevents me from buying all Grizzly tools.

So glad to finally get a great band saw for my shop.

A sweet saw

This is my first bandsaw and I could not be happier. The anniversary edition has a very nice paint job and attractive logo. I have already did a number of projects where I have needed to resaw and have had no issues at all. When I bought this I never thought I would max out on the height of the resaw, but nearly got there with my third project and am seriously thinking about getting the extension kit before I buy more blades. The instructions and videos are a great help in setting up and maintaining the saw. It runs very smooth and a lot quieter than I expected. I look forward to many years of use.

Excellent professional grade product

Very professional product cuts with precision.
I was even able to redraw 1/4 pieces out of 6" logs. Great investment will get passed on to my kids 40 years from now

Great machine...definitely would add the riser block to give you those additional 6 inches of ripping. Works really well and was able to fine tune its running without any problems!!

Example: Great Product!!

If set up properly it'll work like a charm especially if you buy a better blade.

Great saw

I bought this saw after reading lots of reviews and have been very pleased. No complaints at all, completely satisfied, quality machine not. I like the adjustments and the ease of adjustment

A Great Machine

This bandsaw is a terrific value. The fit and finish are superlative. We're a professional custom cabinet shop, and this machine is going to do everything we are ever going to require of it.

Great bandsaw at an excelent price.

This is a great saw for the price. I've been using it to split bolts for violins and violas along with a ton of other things. It is a great addition to my workshop. Setup was easy, adjusting the bearings isn't as easy as much higher priced saws but once you have them fine tuned it cuts and tracks very well.

My only issues are: one of the bearings does not spin, and the fence will shift if too much pressure is placed upon it.. To your credit, i have not called to rectify this issue.

My first band saw
5/ 5stars

Received my first band saw today, I'm impressed with the finish and the overall quality of this saw, very simple to follow instructions, and no left over parts. I have not actually made saw dust yet, but have made a dry run, unit is smooth and very quite, will finish final adjustments tomorrow, and will follow up with update as to how the unit performs.

Well made

This band saw is well made for a great price, and the customer and technical support are outstanding. I highly recommend this saw.

Fabulous customer service

I did a lot of research before purchasing this saw. I have bought a number of Grizzly power tools, and have been very happy with them. However, this bandsaw had a very pronounced wobble, despite hours of adjusting. I went the advised route of contacting Grizzly tech support and endured over a month of frustration. The upper wheel had a very obvious eccentricity. Tech support sent me a second wheel, and I had the same problem. To make a long story short, tech support did not resolve the issue and insisted the unit be shipped back to them at great expense and hassle to me. Ah, but the story gets better........

Fortunately, I live 2 miles from the Bellingham headquarters. I walked into the showroom where I purchased this unit and explained my frustration. The salesperson simply said, "We'll make it right." When he found out I had no way to transport the saw back to Grizzly, he and another coworker stopped at my home on their way to work one morning and hauled the saw to Grizzly in his pickup. A week later, they delivered it back to me. It had a new wheel, a new blade, was adjusted, and now runs like a top.

I have never seen such proactive and friendly customer service. And now I can leave that 5-star review that so many others have left. I have gone from being a customer to an avid fan of Grizzly. Thank you Smitty!

I bought the G0555LANV a little less than one year ago and just now getting around to reviewing it. At the time I also purchased the Shop Fox heavy duty mobile base and the riser block. This saw is GREAT! It IS quite heavy to get on the base and took me and a neighbor to lift it. The adjustments are straight forward. I read the manual thoroughly first and watched a couple of videos on YouTube and they are not challenging at all (this is my first bandsaw.) Once I got the adjustments made and the included blade tensioned I made a couple of practice cuts to verify the accuracy. The blade did seem to want to be on the right side of the opening in the throat plate but this was resolved by adjusting the table on the trunion. After this I removed the included blade and installed a Timberwolf 1/4" 6tpi blade and WOW does that blade cut!!

I am just now getting to the point of adding the riser block to do some re-sawing for a luthier buddy of mine. I waited this long to get used to bandsaw woodworking and I can say this is one fine machine and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Nice saw

the only thing that is not to my liking is the rip fence, very unhappy with that and will replace it ASAP!!
Other then that i like the saw it has the power to resaw 6" oak boards

I just got this set up and have only run a few pieces of wood though it, but over all it went together nice and is very solid. Take your time on the blade tracking, and bearing set up (do it by the book) and you can't hear it run. I have mine on the roller stand, and it is perfect for the small shop. fence, table and miter are very solid.

Great Saw! Worth Every Penny!!

I did alot of research online and several store visits, I almost bought a Jet Bandsaw too. But then I realized this bandsaw has many upgrades over this style. What I mean is look over many 14" bandsaws and you will see alot of them look like copies of each other just painted to match whatever companies paint scheme. Compare for yourself the Tensioning parts, this saw has a Great side tension lever, not the cheaper IMO pull down stamped steel lever so commonly found on other machines! A++. and the guide post adjustments! Alot of 14" Saws come with a knob you loosen the knob and the guide post slams to the table unless you remember to hold it, This Grizzly saw has a Rack and Pinion guide post! You loosen the knob and then turn a bigger knob for a precise adjustment! Again first class in my opinion! . Alot of other bandsaws come equipped with very cheap blade guides. the ones on this saw are ball bearings which I happen to like. I waited to review this saw until I had used it several months and it performs great! Have not had any issues with it. As far as blades go I purchased the Timber Wolf blades that Grizzly sells and find them to be of great quality. I highly recommend this Saw to anyone. Don't let the low price scare you away! its a quality machine

Common Questions and Answers about the G0555LANV:

What are the key differences between the various G0555 Series machines?

Aside from paint color and labeling, the G0555 and G0555P are identical machines; they are equipped with a 1 HP motor, aluminum wheels, manually-adjustable guide post, extruded aluminum fence, and open-style stand. The G0555X was built with the same basic design as the G0555/G0555P, but it is equipped with a 1.5 HP motor, cast-iron wheels, manually-adjustable guide post, a cabinet-style stand, a worklight, and a cast-iron fence with optional resaw fence attachment. The G0555LX and G0555LANV, aside from appearances, are also identical machines; however, they are built from a different design than the G0555/G0555P, so very few parts are interchangeable. The G0555LX and G0555LANV are equipped with a 1 HP motor, cast-iron wheels, extruded aluminum fence, rack-and-pinion adjustable guide post, open-style stand, and a padlock for the ON/OFF switch.

What is needed for converting this machine to 220V?

First, review the circuit requirements in the Owner's Manual to make sure you have the appropriate 220V power supply circuit and wall receptacle installed in your shop. Converting the machine to 220V involves (1) disconnecting saw from power supply, (2) cutting off existing power cord plug, (3) reconfiguring wire connections inside the motor junction box, and (4) installing the appropriate 220V plug (see Owner's Manual for full details). CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electrocution or fire, only an electrician or qualified service personnel should perform this procedure.

What is CSA? What does "CSA Certified" mean?

CSA (Canadian Standards Association) is an organization based out of Canada that is very similar to UL (Underwriters Laboratory) in the USA. Like UL, CSA provides two primary services. First, they develop Canada's minimum standards for the design, construction, and safety of a wide variety of products that are commercially sold in that country. These standards are completely voluntary and not a requirement for all products sold in Canada. Second, CSA acts as an NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory), which is essentially a 3rd party testing agency that has their own engineers/inspectors test and evaluate a product to ensure that it meets the requirements established in the applicable standards document for the primary market where the products are sold. In Grizzly's case, this is the USA and Canada, so many Grizzly machines are certified (usually by CSA, UL, or ETL) to meet both CSA (Canada) and UL (USA) standards. So, although CSA produces their own standards, any NRTL (such as UL, ETL, TUV, etc.) can also certify the same products to the CSA standards. The reason why one NRTL is used over another typically just boils down to a business decision by the company paying the NRTL to test/evaluate their products. An important part of any NRTL certification, besides the initial testing/evaluation, is the ongoing compliance requirements necessary to maintain the certification. This involves both regular and random product checks by the NRTL's inspectors or engineers at the factory or on the consumer level.

If I put a riser block on my bandsaw, do I lose 6" of adjustment with the blade?

No, the riser block kits include a replacement guide post and blade guard, which allows the guide blocks to be adjusted within the full range of the additional 6" cutting height gained by its installation.

General Questions and Answers:

How do I know what type of blade I should buy?

Blade choice is typically determined by the type and purpose of cut, the hardness and thickness of wood, and the desired trade-offs between cutting speed vs. cutting quality. In general, a wider blade is preferred for cutting straight lines because the blade tends to wander less, and a narrower blade is preferred for cutting curves because it has a much tighter minimum cutting radius. The two main types of blade teeth are "Hook" and "Raker". Hook teeth tend to cut faster and leave rougher results, while Raker teeth tend to cut slower and leave smoother results. There are additional types of teeth, such as Skip, Positive Claw, or AS-S, that are essentially modified versions of the Hook or Raker tooth shapes, but with slight changes to the cutting angle, gullet-to-tooth ratio, tooth set, etc. to provide unique advantages for special types of cuts.

Can a metal bandsaw cut wood or vice versa?

The proper cutting speed for the majority of ferrous metals is under 300 FPM. The proper cutting speed for the majority of wood cuts is over 3000 FPM. Trying to cut metals on a wood bandsaw--at speeds 10 times faster than they should be--is dangerous and will likely result in a broken blade, damage to the bandsaw, and a really horrible cut. Cutting wood on a metal bandsaw is possible, but it would be tedious and slow, and likely would not produce a decent quality of cut. In addition, bandsaw blades for cutting wood are designed much differently than bandsaw blades for cutting metal. With that said, there are some soft, non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum) that can be cut at around 1500 FPM (if using the correct blade type). Although some of our wood bandsaws operate at approximately this same speed, the other components of these saws weren't designed to handle the metal chips and swarf that would be produced by the cut, which would likely result in minor damage to the machine and void the warranty. The bottom line is this: Always buy the right machine for the job!

What are the differences between ball bearing, block, and disc (a.k.a. "Euro style") guide blocks?

The main differences between blade guide types can be boiled down to four factors: (1) amount/quality of support, (2) amount of blade friction created from that support, (3) ease of set-up and adjustment, and (4) durability and maintenance frequency. Ball-bearing guides offer the best all-around balance of these four factors. Although they don't provide as much contact area for support as block or disc guides, they do maintain constant contact with the blade without greatly increasing friction. They are also the easiest to set up and tend to be the most durable. Disc guides provide the highest amount of contact area for support, but as with guide blocks, they must be positioned 0.004" away from the blade, which requires some type of gauge to be used for proper set up. Whereas some disc guides are fixed, similar to block guides, our Euro-Style disc guides spin with blade contact, which greatly reduces friction and the need for regular resurfacing. Block guides offer excellent support, but unless they're made from specialized materials to reduce wear or friction, they tend to fall behind the other guide types in all other categories.

What type of blade do I need for resawing?

Generally speaking, you'll want to use a wide blade (1/2" or larger) with "Hook" style teeth (or "Positive Claw" on Timberwolf blades) and a low number of teeth per inch (TPI). A wide blade helps ensure cuts are straight and the Hook style teeth have large gullets for removing material as the blade passes through the workpiece.

My bandsaw blade came with a tag on it that said "Recommended for cutting wood or soft non-ferrous metal." Does this mean I can cut metal with my wood bandsaw?

Just because the blade is recommended for both wood and soft, non-ferrous metal (e.g. aluminum, copper, etc.), it doesn't mean your wood bandsaw is suitable for cutting both types of material. It is important to keep in mind that the blade you bought may also be used on other types of bandsaws, such as our G0640X or G0621X, which are specially designed to cut both wood and metal.

Can I still use my bandsaw without connecting it to a dust collector?

Yes, this is possible, but we don't recommend it. Without using a dust collector, the dust will quickly pile up in and around your machine, resulting in additional cleaning time later. Besides making a mess, fine dust can be harmful to your respiratory system. It is a better choice to connect your bandsaw to a properly designed dust collection system that at least pulls the recommended minimum CFM from each dust port on the machine.

What is the purpose of the pin that fits in the blade slot opening at the end of the table?

All bandsaw tables are inherently weaker on the outside half of the table. This is due to the slotted opening that allows the blade to pass through the table during blade changes. The table pin helps reinforce the two sides of the table around this slot, so they remain aligned with each other and keep the table flat. For this reason, it is extremely important to always keep the table pin firmly installed, unless you're changing blades.
