Bought this a while ago. It had to sit in the box because I was transferred to a new base. Finally got to open and set it up. Set up was easy. At first that is. The blades needed to be adjusted. Followed the instructions to a "T". Only one problem, the cap screws on the blades won't budge. Since it has been less then a year and it is still under warranty I contacted Grizzly for help. They recommended heating but not to use a flame. They also recommended using a chisel and hammer. To their credit they did however send me the information for the cap screws so I could buy new ones. That's what I call a great warranty.
i tried searching for reviews on this jointer but turns out there isn't much out there, so I figured I would relate my experience. I received this jointer UPS and everything was packaged well. After taking the jointer out I proceeded to setup the fence etc. Setup was a breeze and after checking everything for square I proceeded to check the knives. Right out of the box the knives were set perfectly with the out feed table. The solid cast iron fence is very sturdy and easy to align square. I have ran several board beet through it and so far it is actually more than I expected. For what I do, and the price, I can't imagine there is a better bench top jointer on the market. FYI. I have also ran several 6-8' length boards through it and even though it is a small bench top jointer with short bed lengths, it has cut perfectly square edge joints with patience while feeding. Great products and service from Grizzly and that's why my next purchase will be the GO513X2.
I've been using this jointer for a year now and have been very happy with it. I make guitars, small furniture, and other small wood projects for myself and to sell on Etsy and it's been everything I need.
However, after a year of use the blades needed replacing. I found that the screws holding one of the blades in place were completely seized, and even after applying Liquid Wrench and heat to the screws, I was unable to remove them. The jointer isn't very useful at the moment. I've contacted Grizzly Support and am waiting to hear back for advice.
First 11 months: Worth every penny and more. This month: we'll see.
Love grizzly products but was a bit unpleased with packing. Of the six cap screws listed in the inventory, 2 were the wrong size and 2 were missing. Luckily I believe I can get them locally without having to wait to assemble, but the inconvenience is irritating.
