Top notch jointer.
5/ 5stars

I just purchased this jointer over the weekend and received it yesterday. I had been waiting for months on the grizzly g0490 series any to be in stock, and was still wasn't going to be in stock till Dec 15. I researched steelex st1006 for weeks trying to find out everything I could about it, as there just aren't many reviews. Found out it was made by shopfox, which is owned by grizzly which is owned by Woodstock international.

This is a rebadged shopfox w1741 8 inch jointer. From my research into this all these machines are made at one factory that even makes power mastic, jet, sawstop, delta, and few others. Couple people have actually stated that they have been to the facilty and most all cast iron parts are batched all the same depending on model, and painted to whatever color scheme needed for the brand/ model it was going on and the sheet metal is all the same on the stands just different color schemes. The only real difference was in the electrical components, relays, switches , and motors. Take whatever u want from that but most all those different brands parts are interchangeable.

You get a 2 year warranty with steelex vs 1 year for grizzly and u deal with grizzly for the warranty.

Setup instructions has one part wrong in book guess for shipping reasons motor was moved to the top and bolted, remove the bolts for the motor while upside down which is how the stand is shipped, guessing so it wasn't top heavy. After u remove the motor, and install the swivel caster flip the stand on its face and remove the back cover, and prob easier to install motor on side brackets at this point. Also check ur power cord I had to disconnect it and reroute it with other cordthrough side hole as the plug itself will not fit. Unbolt the 2 17 mm bolts holding start stop bracket and take that out of the stand as well. You will need to remove a 27 mm bolt that is fastening the jointer top to the crate and has a nut underneath crate.

I apologize in advance I am typing this on my phone. I wanted to let anyone know that has been waiting on grizzly parallel jointer due to stock issues, this is a well built jointer and is owned by the same company. Hopefully it helps someone as there is little info on this.
