this is just what i needed in my shop didn't realize how important it is until i got it
I bought this great Grizzly product and love it, The set up was easy and it worked like it was supposed to the first time i tried it. I would recommend this product to anyone. The price was very affordable for the home based woodworker. Grizzly makes very good products.
Overall this is by far the least expensive 8" spiral cutter jointer on the market. In addition, the quality is very good. I had one small problem with a switch that was damaged during shipping, but Grizzly Customer Service took care of it, and helped me get it resolved. Overall the machine works very well. Assembly was manageable, but I did have the assistance of a fork lift to get the jointer onto the cabinet. Total Assembly took ~3 hours (including trouble shooting switch issue).
I have had this jointer for a month and don't know how I got along without it. It arrived in perfect condition and I had it assembled and working in no time. Factory settings were spot on, so I had very little to do to tune up before getting to work.
The Grizzly Spiral cutterhead Jointer is a pleasure to use. The long in-feed and out-feed tables make it much easier to produce a true flat edge. The Spiral cutterhead does a great job smoothing the face as well as the edge. I have NO regrets with my purchase.\r\n
Compared to the jointer I was previously using (my grandfathers) this Grizzly is great. I'm very glad I paid the extra for the spiral head since I work with figured woods a lot and I've had almost no tearout even though it isn't a Selix head.\r\nThere are two things I think are poorly designed. 1. the frame on which the motor is mounted makes positioning and adjusting a time consuming, frustrating job. I'm glad I only have to do this once in a great while. 2. the fence angle stop is a floppy, inaccurate design that I would never trust for a 90 degree setting.\r\nAll in all this is a good machine for the money.\r\nDealing with UPS Freight was a nightmare.\r\n
