Manufactured in the USA by Byrd®, these indexable carbide insert cutterheads are very well made and leave a great finish. The inserts are positioned along a spiral pattern, and rotate at a slight angle for a shearing action that leaves a glassy smooth cut on the toughest of woods. Comes with all 40 inserts on the cutterhead, plus 5 extras. Fits the G0490W 8" Jointer.

Perfect Fit 1/5/2018

Bought this with my G0490W and needed a gear puller to remove old cutter head. The video detailing the install oversimplified the bearing removal significantly. Buy the bearings when you purchase this, they’re less than $15 total and you might damage the factory ones trying to get the old cutter head off. Easy to setup once installed... WAY easier than lining up the straight blades. I’ve got a nothing but smooth cuts from the very first.

Absolutely Perfect! 8/9/2017

Leaves the smoothest most glass like finish on any type of hardwood. A must have. Takes. O time to install and calibrate.

I put this in my jointer and I am super happy with the cut quality and the quietness of it.

Very nice 6/2/2017

I actually purchased a new G490W 8" jointer and T27622 Shelix cutterhead together rather than buy the planar model that comes with the segmented cutterhead. I have a Shelix cutterhead in my planer and I wanted to stock a common supply of spare segments. The installation went pretty smoothly following the instructions and video available online, however I did need to go to a DIY autoshop to use a hydraulic press to release the bearings from the original cutterhead.

The cutterhead cuts cleanly and I'm very happy with it.

took 3 months waiting for this order to come in...seems there are mistakes in the catalog on exact replacement specs. i researched this to make sure it was the correct one, then had to wait for the order to fill - and I'm glad because it was worth the wait. the cutterhead is fantastic.
