Great machine! 10/17/2018

Love the anniversary edition bandsaw, big and powerful enough to handle anything we throw at it. Not to mention it looks great next to our Grizzly drill press.

Great bandsaw for less than a thousand. 10/12/2018

Once you put a large tooth blade on this saw it cuts like a dream. Great saw! The cast iron is hard to keep away surface rust even using T-9 and paste wax.

10/10/2018

there was hidden freight damage resulting in a dented top door. it has been replaced and that problem is resolved. The base of this unit is also sprung and that was not discovered until it was removed from the pallet. we compansated with a block when mounting the saw into the D2057A base and all is well. this unit needs a hardier pallet and it needs to NOT ship via UPS.

Heavy duty, cuts true, nice fence system! 9/12/2018

9/2/2018

Very good saw for the money, easy set-up. Wish it would open to 16

New bandsaw 9/1/2018

Was in need of a heavy duty bandsaw with re saw capabilities think the go 513 will do the job. The first job is re sawing 16 quater black locust air dried to 9 percent this wood is very dense and hard to cut the 1/2 " blade shipped with saw did good job but have ordered a 3/4" and a 1" that should cut even better. I am rebuilding a 100+ year old bobsled was made out of oak. Some of the parts have 1"x3" mortice and tendon joints . The fact that table will tilt 10 degrees to left is a great help to cut these tendons also.

Nice!! 8/31/2018

Very nice machine! Works great and looks fine also!

8/30/2018

This saw is sooooo much better than the 15 yr old 14" brand X I've been using, I wouldn't even know where to start. I was a bit intimidated when I unpacked it and found "some assembly required", but once I dug out the manual, all was good. It is a great value. It is not the $15,000 band-saw we use at work, but for a grand delivered, it is spectacular. I hope it holds up over the years; time will tell.

Just what I needed... 8/23/2018

Bought this early in August during the promotion. The saw and Bear Crawl base delivered were about the same as the saw and shipping at regular prices. I had my electrician install the same cord cap as the G0690 so I could use the same 25' 12 gauge extension cord for both. It was easy to set up as long as I read the directions in the manual a few times to do things in the correct order. I mounted it on three pieces of 1 1/8" subfloor plywood screwed together with construction screws, which sit in the mobile base. Btw, the mobile base will work at 30"of extension, although the manual specifies 29 1/2". I screwed the saw to the base with more construction screws and assembled the Bear Crawl around it. No problems. Now it and my G0690 are easy to move around my 2 car garage shop, leaving room for the truck. I plan on buying an assortment of Timberwolf blades very soon. My first cuts were very good. I needed to shim the table in one spot to make the back of the blade square with the table top. I set a machinist's square on the table and against the back of the adjusted/tensioned blade, and then measured the gap with feeler gauges. It was off .015". I bought another set of cheap feeler gauges at NAPA and used a piece of the .015 blade for a shim. It was dead on after that. The only thing not mentioned in the manual is why the table pin is needed--not a word. But, it was easy to feel that the table edges didn't line up until it was in place. Not having owned a band saw previously, I suppose everyone else on the planet knew that already. The fence was square out of the box, and the general blade setup and tracking was trouble free. Next, a drill press and shaper are in the works--as soon as my accountant (wife) says I can. Next post will have some pics of the risers and mobile base.

Great bandsaw. 7/7/2018

Great saw at great price 7/4/2018

I hummed & ha'd over a new bandsaw for way too long. I need 13" re-saw, but only now and again, which this is not rated to do. So I went to Rikon and Laguna and back again. Someone I knew sent a pic showing that in fact this would go to 13" but like the 14" Laguna, wasn't rated to. With the sale price and extra 1/4 horse and 17" verse 14" this just won out on the specks.
There is some arguments re fences and guides, cast iron etc... Each of the 3 contenders had its strengths and weakness and I did like the Rikon. But overall, the Grizzly is just a bigger machine.
It arrived no problems, packaging was fine and assembly wasn't bad. I was able to maneuver it off the pallet onto the mobile base fairly easily, by myself. I followed the instructions to the letter and didn't hurry. I also used the stock blade as suggested by some just to experiment and get the feel of what a cheap blade feels like. I had several wood slicers ready but the stock blade is still on there and works ok, but it's served it purpose and coming off.
I ran in 220/240V for it that I wanted to do anyway, and I see 240V as an advantage. Some 14" require additional expenses for switches and caps to go to 240V.
It works perfectly, no issues that I can see yet. With a mobile base it moves easily despite its weight with a reasonably small footprint.
It's a lot of saw. 17", 2HP, tension release. I see it as the low point entry into more serious saws and big step up from a 14" for essentially less than its competitors.
I'm very happy with this choice and would recommend it to anyone looking for a saw at this price point.

Great Bandsaw! 6/9/2018

I thought about buying a cheaper piece of equipment, but instead followed my father's advice: Don't buy the cheapest piece of equipment - buy the best. Although I could have purchased an industrial model, this saw is great for my needs. It's a heavy duty saw with all the abilities you need in a bandsaw. I've been so happy with this product that I've also ordered a joiner from them.

5/14/2018

Works well for what we bought it for. Runs quiet. We cut Plastic with it and we replaced a 36 wheel machine with this unit. Good machine.

5/10/2018

I am very happy with this bandsaw but I will say this the blade that comes on this saw is total junk. If you buy this saw replace the blade immediately as the one that comes on it is a piece of crap.

5/10/2018

Awesome saw, using it for making bandsaw boxes, very happy with the blade release in back of saw. Very pleased with the whole saw actually

Great Bandsaw! 5/4/2018

I don't know what I did without it before.

Lori M
Works great! 5/3/2018

Easy it setup. Works great! I can't' speak for the blade as I used the blades I purchased separately.

5/2/2018

I expect this saw ti serve me till I die based on its construction and available accessories. The dust collection is great.

bret
the saw is a beast, but... 4/22/2018

the saw is definitely beefy and it has a lot of potential but... the fence that comes with it is super cheap and the blade is pretty much worthless. i mean unrealistically bad for a $1000 saw

4/15/2018

My review is that the Grizzly certainly is pretty, it comes mostly assembled and on a pallet, and if you give it to a man as a gift they absolutely will LOVE it (but their wife possibly might not, especially if there are small children in the household). When I bought this machine I planned on using it myself, but after researching more, I decided to gift it to my son-in-law. He says he loves it even though he has not cut anything yet. I bought another brand for myself for about 30% less cost, but I had to do some assembly.

This saw is a GREAT! 4/8/2018

I received the Grizzly Anniversary-Edition bandsaw via UPS. The driver had no issue wheeling it into my garage. After uncrating, it was an easy task assembling the mobile stand around it. I spent about 3 hours fabricating a very effective dust collection system, using 4 inch PVC and flexible hoses. I adjusted the saw guides, and repositioned both fences to compensate for blade drift. The saw is super. It is wired for 220 volts. Makes accurate cuts (I have a 1/2 inch blade installed). Yesterday ii quickly and effortlessly cut through a piece of aluminum molding, with smooth results. There is very little cleanup required. And it looks great. It is positioned in the front of my shop and will be a mainstay power tool. Thanks Grizzly.

Fabulous Machine! 4/1/2018

This is only the second bandsaw I've owned in the 40+ year history of my humble home shop. The upgrade this machine brings to my floor in operational features, cutting capacity, and specialty cut capabilities has me absolutely giddy. The machine is well designed, performs smoothly and silently, and stands out among my other machinery with its majestic size and stunning appearance. Love the visual scale and the tension-relief mechanism that makes tension management simple, yet well-controlled. Since changing blades is so quick and easy, I'm stocking my shop with a variety of blades to take advantage of its many cutting applications. You can't go wrong with this bandsaw choice.

This is a great saw. 3/27/2018

I have been waiting to buy this saw for about a year. I absolutely love this bandsaw. I would definitely recommend buying grizzly products.

3/8/2018

I bought this a month ago and it came in and was easy to set up, the only thing is it did not come with a electrical plug. I have used it and I am very pleased.

2/26/2018

I am very happy with the G0513ANV 17" 2 HP Band saw, Anniversary Edition. I have been wanting one and needing one for years. I am sorry that I waited so long. It exceeded my expectations. After I got it set up, it works wonderful. However, I wish that the thumb screws that hold the blade guides in place were cap screws.
I also purchased a Shop Fox mobile base. The base works great but the saw had to be raised on the base so the door of the saw would clear the wheel brackets. Then I had to bolt the saw to the base to keep it in place.

Quality tool, resonable price 2/15/2018

seems to function as it should and setup was as expected

2/14/2018

seems to be a good machine ,like it so far, I believe when I get it paid off im going to pull the trigger on a grizzly jointer as well and after that we,ll see. good job grizzly. looks like my shop is going to be a grizzly shop.

Machine was well packaged and was easy to install and works and looks great 1/28/2018

Great band saw 1/25/2018

I bought this saw last month. I trouble setting it up and called tech support and didnt take them but a few minutes to solve problem. Quality of saw is great an anniversary saw looks great. Im so pleased with Grizzly that I just ordered 4 more machines. Only problem I have is they are back-ordered. I will probably get a new fence.

Band saw works great Im ordering a new blade. I have got my G0733 lathe. I dont have it set up yet waiting on help. It is heavy.

1/13/2018

Thank you
I am very impressed with all your products and customer services

This is a fantastic product. It’s everything it’s advertised to be. 1/4/2018

I am extremely happy with my bandsaw. Its better then what I expected. My thanks to the grizzly corporation.

Very nice bandsaw. It is everything I expected. 1/3/2018

I have an older craftsman saw. This is far superior to what I have been using. I am very pleased with the saw.

17in bandsaw 1/3/2018

I only had it 2weeks before Christmas, not much chance to use it , but Im sure I will love it.

1/2/2018

Very nice machine! My first full size bandsaw, very pleased.

Love the band saw 12/13/2017

It performs real well & I would recommend this band saw to anyone that is in need of one. I have 3 Grizzly machines & they all perform well.

Bob T
12/9/2017

This bandsaw was packed well, runs well, and does everything it claims to do very well. I have to agree with the other reviews that it is strange that Grizzley would put such a crappy blade on such a great machine.

17" bandsaw 12/2/2017

The bandsaw arrived quickly with no damage. The assembly and setup instructions were accurate and complete. After about 2 hours of assembly and minor adjustments, the bandsaw performed very well. This is a good product.

12/1/2017

After using this saw for the last four weeks I am 100% happy with it. Easy assembly and cutting in 20 minutes. Everything fit together with no problems. I am running it on 110v for now but will change it to 220v when the saw gets set in its permanent location in the shop but it has plenty of power.

Outstanding saw for the price in comparison to others 11/28/2017

I use this saw for game bird, song bird, birds of prey and fish as well as making quality coffee tables which I build complete nature scenes inside of them according to customers interest's and desire's.
I researched comparable machines in both size and price for over a month.
Now my saw is hooked up and running but it's got something wrong with it. It's uncapable of cutting poplar 3" thick without the blade tracking all over the place. Cutting 6" thick basswood is liable to start a fire. Disappointed at this point but I suppose a new blade may help looking at the different reviews on here. Also, I rewired it to run at 110V because I can't afford to run a 220V lune just yet. Time will tell.

Updated my 2003 saw with this one,, 11/21/2017

I really like this new Bandsaw, But has some very cheap plastic handles that will break in time. Very disappointed in that part of the machine. Other than that it seems to be a quality built piece of equipment. The sticker on the front is all waded up and was not placed on the machine after it was built very good at all. She is a very heavy duty type of saw.

11/14/2017

Still havent gotten the blade to run true and the original blade didnt last 1 hour. Seems like it can be nice once I figure out how to set up better

Works perfect 11/2/2017

There was little assembly was up and running quickly works well very well designed.

10/19/2017

Awesome saw. Easy to setup.
Never used one before and I have slowly discovered all the things I can create with this tool. Great videos on YouTube about this saw. Very pleased with product and service from grizzly.

10/15/2017

Great saw for the money , I use it more than I thought would. So many great features for the money . Can't wait to order the bench top planer

Great saw and service 10/15/2017

Unpacked the saw and the upper door was bent in shipping. Grizzly service was amazing! A new door was at my shop within 2 days. This saw is resrawing pecan logs into lumber for furniture building now. Setup was easy, blade changes easily. Great saw and service, thanks from a happy customer!!

Kevin M
Great saw 10/11/2017

Wasn't too happy when I unpacked it a couple of days after it arrived and there's a big ol' scratch right through the grizzly bear!but it's a good machine.

Albin R
Fantastic saw!!! Thanks to this saw, its taking my woodworking to a new level! 10/5/2017

I've had this saw for about a month now and I'm very impressed with it's performance. It has handled everything that I've thrown at it without even so much as a hiccup! I use it mainly for resawing log pieces to make woodturning blanks and have cut several blanks that were 12"-15" square and 6" deep and saw doesn't even slow down! I've got 4 Grizzly tools, a large wood lathe that has a 22" swing, a 17" bandsaw, 1 1/2hp dust collector, and an air cleaner that's suspended from the ceiling. All that I can say is that you get the most bang for your hard earned buck with Grizzly tools!!! Plus their customer service is fantastic, top notch, second to none!!!

9/30/2017

I've this bandsaw about a month. I could not be happier. All I've had before were box store saws. this is so much better I wish I had gotten it long ago. I think it is the best saw for the price.

Great saw! 9/29/2017

I've run everything from 8/4 oak to 5/4 ipe through this bandsaw without issue. I definitely would recommend this saw to a friend. However, I would advise them to take into account that this saw doesn't include the resaw fence that the G0513X2 comes with. The G0513X2 is $1,259 (shipped) and the G0513ANV and resaw fence attachment is $1,183 (shipped), so you'd still be ahead with the G0513ANV if price is a concern.

Love this Saw! 9/27/2017

What a great bandsaw! It was shipped really well and protected. For me this is a lifetime saw. I'd recommend buying another blade with it. The stock blade is ok but you'll see this saws full potential with a better blade. Another great Grizzly product!

Love it so far. 9/17/2017

Very pleased with product, still getting to know it. Good service and delivery.

Great 8/27/2017

Great product so far. Blade that comes with it is horrible.

Great Saw 8/26/2017

This is the first band saw that I have ever purchased that couldn't be purchased at a home depot. I am a little upset that I tried to make do so long with smaller weaker units. This thing is very well built and powerful! I have been resawing mesquite wood logs into bowl planks and cutting board slabs. the motor doesn't even lug down when I am cutting through 12 inches of hard dry Texas mesquite. I cannot say that for my chainsaw!! All in all, I am very happy with the product, and I already have my eye on many other Grizzly products that I would love to add to my shop. If their other products are of as good quality as this unit is they have a customer for life!!

Great bandsaw 8/18/2017

Great buy! 7/29/2017

Works as advertised, even for re-sawing large logs!

go513anv 17" 2 hp bandsaw, anniversary edition 7/24/2017

This saw is fine for what I do with it. I am a woodturner and use it for cutting turning blanks. I paid for tailgate service and the freight company delivery schedule person told me I would have to meet the driver because the truck was an 18 wheeler and wouldn't come into the neighborhood. I was waiting for a call from the driver and was pleasantly surprised when my doorbell rang and the UPS driver was standing there with the paperwork for my order. Turns out it was a semi but was a 10 wheeler. The driver wheeled it into my garage ,I noted a damaged crate on his paperwork and he left. There was absolutely no damage to the machine, I put a plug on the cord to fit my 240v system and all worked fine. Like a lot of the other reviews I read I don't think much of the blade that comes with the saw and I bought 3 Lenox blades for my purposes. I added external leveling feet which makes it a lot easier to adjust than using the holes drilled inside the base. For the price it seems to have excellent quality and I would recommend it to others

Bill P
Great product 7/20/2017

I bought this bandsaw due to having another brand in which I installed a riser block but was under powered. This saw has done everything thing from resawing to cutting bowl blanks .

Derick D
Great machine 7/19/2017

I just got my new grizzly 17" band saw. I love it .so much power and perfect blade tracking. There is nothing it won't cut. As fast as you can feed it ,it will cut it. I did upgrade to the roller bearing guides . the machine does come with a cheap blade . but that's fine. Once I received my new blades I was re-sawing 12" logs, making bowl blanks and beautiful bandsaw boxes. I am so happy with this investment. Even though this is just my hobby I wanted this saw. I did have to sleek it in my garage from my wife. She did approve one she seen how happy I was with my new toy.

Glen B
7/19/2017

Great saw My wife bought this for father's day gift and I couldn't be happier.

Fit and Finish exactly as expected 7/13/2017

Saved for 10 months to get this saw and I'm not disappointed. Looks great in the shop, operates smoothly and efficiently. I need to save to get dust collector to attach to it. My only complaint is I bought the roller base; needed to go get shorter metric screws to the lower door could open. Grizzly tech said that's why they recommend 3'4" plywood base but shorter screws work great. I was missing a fence in the shipment and was sent one within 5 days. Second Grizzly machine; I'll get more.
I added a back wall LED light to the wall behind for better visibility when cutting.

7/13/2017

Very happy with this purchase and with Grizzly in general. I have already ordered more products from the excellent catalog.

7/12/2017

Great product. only negative thing was the freight company charged for lift gate and then didn't use it. 30 something bucks someone made????

7/1/2017

Thought it kind of tacky u sent it with a big wrinkle in the big bear sticker, no worries i just heated it up and removed it

6/26/2017

This is a quality product and the packaging was professional and delivered as expected and undamaged. Minor final assembly was easy and the saw works great! I'm looking for more Grizzly tools for my shop.

good so far only used once 6/21/2017

Beautiful in design and operation! Arrived quickly and packaged well. 6/3/2017

Just purchased this bandsaw and I love it! I will never need to upgrade again!

Excellent!!!! 6/2/2017

I was looking for a new bandsaw. I had my eye on another brand and the one I wanted was out of stock. I was pretty disappointed. My wife was looking online and said, have seen this Grizzly? I had not even seen a Grizzly before. I looked at the 14" model and it was out of stock. Once again I was disappointed. Then I looked at the 17" model. I was going to get the 14" model and add the 6" riser anyway. The more I looked at the 17", the more I liked it. So I ordered the 17" Anniversary Model. Wow, I am so glad my wife found this bandsaw. First of all, the delivery was about a week, the driver was very helpful. I paid for the lift gate delivery. The driver wheeled it up my driveway and into my garage. I was so excited as I was uncrating my new toy. This bandsaw works like a dream. I built a jig to resaw logs, and it cut through the logs with ease. I bought the resaw fence with it. I am glad I did. I have resawn walnut as wide as 8" wide to 1/4" thickness. It resaws with no trouble at all. I am so pleased with this bandsaw. I feel like a kid with a new toy. If you are thinking a 17 inch bandsaw, this is the one. You can not go wrong with this one.

Solid Bandsaw 6/2/2017

I bought this knowing I would use it for a few weeks then not again for awhile. Well it's almost a daily use item. Absolutely love it!!! Resaw capacity was a huge reason I bought this model and it doesn't disappoint. Dust collection is phenomenal with the two ports. I can't recommend this saw enough.

6/2/2017

It is a great product have not had a chance to use much but so far so good

Clay H
Outstanding Saw 6/2/2017

I have been so pleased with this saw. It has all the power required to re-saw large blocks of hardwood. It was easy to connect to my dust collection system so there's very little cleanup after sawing.

6/2/2017

Very satisfied! 6/1/2017

Perfect machine for what I need! Plenty of power and the price was perfect!

Powerful saw, disappointing quality control 6/1/2017

Purchased the saw on sale along with the resaw fence and mobile base. Immediately I notice paint chipping in several spots showing bare metal. Then, after assembly the upper wheel had some horribly noticeable runout. Called the customer service line and they were able to send me a replacement wheel along with a small can of paint. It arrived with no bearings and no tire. A bit annoying considering I wanted a full replacement but I had the tools to press them in. I began to remove the bearings from the original wheel and when I went to install them into the new wheel, I noticed one of the spokes had been broken. Looked more like a casting defect rather than shipping damage. Called again and talked to the same employee as before who was very apologetic but agreed to send another new wheel. I asked if I could get a fully assembled wheel (bearings and tire) but was told they could only replace the wheel...

So here we go again, the new wheel comes in a few days later and I end up getting it installed. The saw still had some noticeable vibration but the blade tracks true. Overall I'm satisfied with the saw but disappointed in the quality control and their unwillingness to send a fully assembled wheel.

Good bandsaw 5/31/2017

I really like the bandsaw and it is great for cutting anything. My only problem was getting it to set level.

Awesome Work-Horse 5/24/2017

This has got to be one of the best shop tools I have. I'm so pleased with my decision to upgrade from my bench top saw. this has literally saved me hours on my projects.
The saw (G0513ANV 17" BANDSAW 2HP ANNIVERSARY EDITION), This runs like a Cadillac with a big block in it. it is now my go to saw for resawing and veneering.
I can't believe I waited so long to take the upgrade leap. years of finagling with the bench top saw are over. Very happy Customer....

Great Price and Quality 5/19/2017

Nicely done...well crated and fast shipping. I would have given the bandsaw 5 stars but after saving for awhile to purchase this bandsaw the "Bear" Decal on the front top door was creased in about 5 areas...looks terrible. Ordered another decal from Grizzly, customer service was great but second decal is folded and creased too....never called back but that was a big selling point for me. Nice bandsaw though.

Great product for the price. When it comes to budget and quality grizzly is awesome. I have had no trouble at all with all my grizzly tools. This bandsaw is beautiful and well built. I will continue to buy grizzly you can't beat it it.

Well worth the investment 2/24/2017

I love how smoothly this saw cuts. Adjustments are all easy and accurate. I have yet to re-saw anything. Based upon performance so far, I am looking forward to digging in to some large pieces that I have been storing for years.

Great Bandsaw!...with a few flaws 2/24/2017

I have had this saw for a few months now and it's great! I got it mainly for re-sawing and it excels at that function. The 2 issues I have are 1. The blade sizes list for this saw are 1/8" - 1", the 2 ends of that spectrum 1/8" and 1" do not work on this saw. I have bent 2 1" blades at about $40 each trying to use them. There is just not enough room to get the 1" blade in and out. I actually got one on and the tire is not wide enough to support the blade. It hangs off both side of the tire and just does not cut well. However, a 3/4" blade works great and re-saws like a champ nd a 1/4" blade cuts a very tight radius. Grizzly really should take off the 1" and 1/8" from the description. 2. I thought the dust collection would be much better. It's no better than the old Jet 14" that I had, even with a 2HP collector connected to both ports it leave dust all over the table and floor.

BUT, like I said, it's a great saw I think that maybe the expectations are set a bit high by the description.

Love it 2/20/2017

Been wanting this size bandsaw for my home shop projects (have lathe as well), so needed re-saw capability. So far so good

So good I bought 2 2/13/2017

I have had both of mine for over a year now and I love them. I purchased the polar bear series of this Bandsaw. I made a video on setting it up. Check it out.

Enjoying it so far 2/8/2017

It has been a long time coming I have enjoyed the heck out of this thing. Decided on the slightly bigger model because I have a few friends with the 14 inch saw and wanted something I never had to upgrade (size wise) love it so far!

1/31/2017

I've always wanted a good band saw. I had a cheap one from Craftsman years ago but finally sold it because I could never get the blade to align properly. It kept coming of the wheels half way through the cut and I'd half to stop and remount the blade ---very frustrating!.. No amount of adjusting tension on those cheap lightweight wheels would correct the problem. Now I can cut easily though thick slabs, and the blade continues to track beautifully and accurately...Great Machine!

No Regrets 1/31/2017

This is a great machine, I use it Daily. No Regret

17 Inch Anniversay Bandsaw 1/29/2017

The bandsaw has preformed very well. Even cutting some very hard aged olive wood. Been a long time since I have purchased a Grizzly product quality is much improved.

Liking it so far 1/29/2017

I got this two months ago. It's my first real bandsaw. For me it was the best bang for the buck. I wanted something I won't want to upgrade in the future. So far I've mostly played with it but have resawn some 7" boards with no problem thanks to some Timberwolf blades. I found that the dust port on the bottom isn't necessary for me with a direct 4" line going to the top port so I blocked that off. Blade changes are a bit tight on my 3/4" blade but I don't have comparisons. I don't see any negatives to the steel trunion or aluminum wheels so far, both are solid. I'm happy with my purchase. The crate was pretty beat up, I wish the planks were thicker but there was no damage to the saw and reply from customer service was quick.

Seems like a well built machine so far, but I am disappointed that the blade sent with it is, in the words of the tech support guy, "basically only meant for setup purposes." Plan on buying a quality blade before you try to cut anything.

1st bandsaw is a good one 1/26/2017

This thing is a beast! It is my first bandsaw and I couldn't be happier. The fence is not the best as far as locking straight but for now I'll just clamp it until I can get a mag fence. It has plenty of power with a 220v motor (which is huge) although you will need to put your own appropriate plug on...I chose a NEMA 6-50 style since I had plugs for my welder already installed in my shop.
I would recommend getting another blnade right off the bat the stock one isn't that great. Good saw and you will be happy with it.

Super Great Band Saw 1/26/2017

Lots of power, easy to change speeds, quieter then I thought it would be and sharp looking

Great buy 1/26/2017

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves it and is doing some projects that he couldn't have done before. This is a great machine.

GREAT BAND SAW - Terrible saw blade!!!!! 1/26/2017

Great bandsaw !!!!!! - terrible saw blade that came with the bandsaw. It would have been better if they sent nothing rather than the saw that came with it. Brand new it messed up a simple cut on MDF. Geez guys send nothing or send a decent blade, but don't send something that will piss everyone off.

Excellent unit 2/14/2016

I bought this bandsaw for my aircraft hangar projects. Building and restoring antique airplanes with desired tolerances down to 1/32 to 1/16 inch requires a decent unit. Cutting spruce wing spars and birch and mahogany plywood gussets and doublers has provided a good trial and check-out for this machine. I have been nothing but happy so far using this saw for ripping, cross cutting, re-sawing, and contour cuts in light plywood down to 1/16 inch thickness. The blade tracking is excellent. Perhaps the only annoyance has been with the rip fence which is lightweight and somewhat difficult to align; with some care and patience however it is working out OK. Just ordered two more saw blades and anxious to get back to sawing!

Love this machine 12/16/2015

I just got this a week ago and i love it. I don't have 220 (yet) so i had to convert it. The cost for plug and out let is about 40 bucks ( for the 100 set up )
Changing the blade is not as easy as it shows in the video, but with a little practice i got it. Its not the machine's fault - it's a bandsaw , com'on bandsaw blades are hard to change. I love it

Great "Bang for your buck" band saw 12/12/2015

After having this saw for a couple of months I feel I am ready to review it. This saw has been an amazing and beautiful addition to my shop. Delivery was prompt, courteous, and set up was pretty easy. I was able to tune the saw up fairly easily and was happy to see that the wheels where aligned perfectly straight from the factory! The cast iron top was nice and flat and had some good weight to it. After a couple of projects and playing with the tension of the included blade i was finally able to get the saw pushing through even dense woods without must effort. If I were to change one thing about this saw it would be to upgrade to some heavier wheels so they are less likely to bog down under while trying to cut some harder woods (again this may have come from me having the blade too tight), and the factory fence tends to twist a bit when clamped. Like any wood worker I have a couple upgrades on my list to make it fit my shop a little better including a mobile base as well as some cool blocks or bearing guides, but I would recommend this saw to anyone who is wanting a full-cut capacity saw for a good price.

Ask A Question

Common Questions and Answers about the G0513ANV:

What is the difference between the G0513, G0513ANV, and G0513P?

All three of these models are identical machines, except for appearances.

What do I need to convert this machine to 110V?

First, review the circuit requirements in the Owner's Manual to make sure you have the appropriate 30A, 110V power supply circuit and wall receptacle installed in your shop. Converting the machine to 110V requires: (1) disconnecting saw from power supply, (2) removing existing power cord with 220V plug, (3) reconfiguring wire connections inside the motor junction box, and (4) replacing power cord with one that has the appropriate 110V plug and meets the required specifications detailed in the owner's manual. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electrocution or fire, only an electrician or qualified service personnel should perform this procedure.

Can this Bandsaw cut light metal if the right blade is used?

The G0513ANV 17" 2 HP Bandsaw is designed for cutting wood and is not recommended for use for cutting metal.

Is this a metal and wood cutting band saw? Or can you do both in this bandsaw?

The G0513ANV is a wood cutting bandsaw only. We do not recommend that this saw be used for metal. We do offer the G0604X 17" Metal/Wood Bandsaw as an alternative that can be used for both applications.

General Questions and Answers:

What is the benefit of having cast-iron trunnions over aluminum trunnions?

Cast-iron trunnions give the table a more solid, robust support system, allowing it to better resist any flexing or twisting that may occur from really heavy workpieces being set on the table, especially on the outside ends of the table around the blade slot.

What are the differences between ball bearing, block, and disc (a.k.a. "Euro style") guide blocks?

The main differences between blade guide types can be boiled down to four factors: (1) amount/quality of support, (2) amount of blade friction created from that support, (3) ease of set-up and adjustment, and (4) durability and maintenance frequency. Ball-bearing guides offer the best all-around balance of these four factors. Although they don't provide as much contact area for support as block or disc guides, they do maintain constant contact with the blade without greatly increasing friction. They are also the easiest to set up and tend to be the most durable. Disc guides provide the highest amount of contact area for support, but as with guide blocks, they must be positioned 0.004" away from the blade, which requires some type of gauge to be used for proper set up. Whereas some disc guides are fixed, similar to block guides, our Euro-Style disc guides spin with blade contact, which greatly reduces friction and the need for regular resurfacing. Block guides offer excellent support, but unless they're made from specialized materials to reduce wear or friction, they tend to fall behind the other guide types in all other categories.

Can a wood bandsaw cut metal or vice versa?

The proper cutting speed for the majority of ferrous metals is under 300 FPM. The proper cutting speed for the majority of wood cuts is over 3000 FPM. Trying to cut metals on a wood bandsaw--at speeds 10 times faster than they should be--is dangerous and will likely result in a broken blade, damage to the bandsaw, and a really horrible cut. Cutting wood on a metal bandsaw is possible, but it would be tedious and slow, and likely would not produce a decent quality of cut. In addition, bandsaw blades for cutting wood are designed much differently than bandsaw blades for cutting metal. With that said, there are some soft, non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum) that can be cut at around 1500 FPM (if using the correct blade type). Although some of our wood bandsaws operate at approximately this same speed, the other components of these saws weren't designed to handle the metal chips and swarf that would be produced by the cut, which would likely result in minor damage to the machine and void the warranty. The bottom line is this: Always buy the right machine for the job!

Can I still use my bandsaw without connecting it to a dust collector?

Yes, this is possible, but we don't recommend it. Without using a dust collector, the dust will quickly pile up in and around your machine, resulting in additional cleaning time later. Besides making a mess, fine dust can be harmful to your respiratory system. It is a better choice to connect your bandsaw to a properly designed dust collection system that at least pulls the recommended minimum CFM from each dust port on the machine.

What type of blade do I need for resawing?

Generally speaking, you'll want to use a wide blade (1/2" or larger) with "Hook" style teeth (or "Positive Claw" on Timberwolf blades) and a low number of teeth per inch (TPI). A wide blade helps ensure cuts are straight and the Hook style teeth have large gullets for removing material as the blade passes through the workpiece.

Which saw is best for resawing?

The key specs for resawing are the maximum cutting height and a larger motor size. Due to the amount of material being cut at one time, resawing puts a lot more strain on the motor than other types of cuts, so generally speaking, the more power the better. If you're using the proper blade type (a hook-type blade with few TPI) and a modest feed speed, you can get by making the occasional rip cut using a 1 HP-2 HP motor. Otherwise, if you plan on making regular resawing cuts, you'll get the best results with a 3 HP or larger motor.

My bandsaw blade came with a tag on it that said "Recommended for cutting wood or soft non-ferrous metal." Does this mean I can cut metal with my wood bandsaw?

Just because the blade is recommended for both wood and soft, non-ferrous metal (e.g. aluminum, copper, etc.), it doesn't mean your wood bandsaw is suitable for cutting both types of material. It is important to keep in mind that the blade you bought may also be used on other types of bandsaws, such as our G0640X or G0621X, which are specially designed to cut both wood and metal.

How do I know what type of blade I should buy?

Blade choice is typically determined by the type and purpose of cut, the hardness and thickness of wood, and the desired trade-offs between cutting speed vs. cutting quality. In general, a wider blade is preferred for cutting straight lines because the blade tends to wander less, and a narrower blade is preferred for cutting curves because it has a much tighter minimum cutting radius. The two main types of blade teeth are "Hook" and "Raker". Hook teeth tend to cut faster and leave rougher results, while Raker teeth tend to cut slower and leave smoother results. There are additional types of teeth, such as Skip, Positive Claw, or AS-S, that are essentially modified versions of the Hook or Raker tooth shapes, but with slight changes to the cutting angle, gullet-to-tooth ratio, tooth set, etc. to provide unique advantages for special types of cuts.

What is the purpose of the pin that fits in the blade slot opening at the end of the table?

All bandsaw tables are inherently weaker on the outside half of the table. This is due to the slotted opening that allows the blade to pass through the table during blade changes. The table pin helps reinforce the two sides of the table around this slot, so they remain aligned with each other and keep the table flat. For this reason, it is extremely important to always keep the table pin firmly installed, unless you're changing blades.

In your catalog, I noticed table inserts being sold separately. Does this mean a table insert won't be included with a new saw?

No, table inserts are included with all of our new bandsaws. However, over the years we've noticed that a lot of customers like to purchase multiple table inserts, so we just include them on each bandsaw page to make it easier for customers to find and order the correct inserts for their saws.
