These Premium Mortising Chisels and bits are precision machined and factory sharpened for perfect results right out of the box. We tested just about every name brand Mortising Chisel on the market including some from Europe and tested them side by side against these Japanese ones. It is our opinion, that there isn’t a Mortising Chisel on the market today that is better in quality and performance than these. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely! Each hollow Mortising Chisel has a 3/4" OD shank to fit 3/4" drill press collars. Made with pride in Japan.

    A good mortising chisel. 3/27/2018

This is a great piece of machinery. Cuts sharp when well set up and seems to stay sharp. I am using it in 8/4 white oak doors, big doors.

    Perfect 5/8 Chisel 6/5/2017

No more hand chiseling for me. Makes a perfect 5/8 square end to any length mortise.

    I wish I hadn't waited! 6/3/2017

When I got my benchtop mortise, it came with a 1/2" bit. Since I had just bought a table saw and jointer, I decided to just use the included bit for the project I was starting. After sharpening and trying several bit to chisel alignments it worked pretty well, but the circle of the bit was always a little outside the square of the chisel. It also squeaked and clanked.
It is immediately evident that this one fee;s much more substantial in the hand, and it cuts MUCH better and more easily straight out of the box, in the first alignment I tried. Also it doesn't clank and squeak, it just whirrs.
Grizzly is not kidding about these bits being good!
