Finally, a benchtop jointer with a spiral cutterhead! Forget the hassle of changing knives and reap the benefits of carbide inserts: long lasting edges, quick cutter changes, and silky-smooth surfaces on even the most highly figured hardwoods. But that's not all, this jointer has some other big-time, exclusive features, such as grab handles on each end of the table, and a baked-on, non-stick coating on the top that provides a slick surface for your workpiece. The extended table wings also allow you to work longer pieces of wood, and the aluminum fence helps keep the weight down for a high level of portability.

Great product for the money 9/26/2018

Dennis G

The reason I bought this machine is for the cutterhead. I'm very happy with that feature as it cuts well and leaves a smooth finish.

Things I don't like (I'm comparing this jointer to my old Porter Cable PC160JT):
Wood is hard to push across the infeed/outfeed tables.
There is no adjustment index for the infeed table so you don't know how much you are moving the table.
The blade guard is very difficult to remove, having to remove parts from under the machine and reaching all the way up to remove a screw.
The tables weren't flat and parallel to each other and had to be adjusted.
Both fence adjustment handles were broken from shipping and Grizzly sent the wrong replacement handles but eventually got it right.
The machine feels light and flimsy compared to my old one.

All-in-all, this is a barely average machine with a superior cutterhead.

Excellent jointer, pieces come out smoother than a babys bottom !!! Love it

Well built 8/22/2018

Every use of this machine is a delight. I cannot recommend this product enough. The spiral cutterhead makes a world of difference on the finished product. Worth the extra money.

I give the cutter head a five star, but give the table top three. I had a Grizzly table top jointer with the cast ion table top and knives and it wooded very well. But was very heavy.
This table top with the plastic coating on the top is very hard to slide a board on edge across. I've even waxed it but is still hard to side a board on. I'm VERY disappointed and will probably get tired of messed up edges and will sell it and go back to making clean edges with my table saw. If you ever make one with the spiral cutter head with a cast iron top,I'll buy it.

Surprisingly powerful. Love it 4/15/2018

This little gem is great. The spiral head makes smooth cuts effortlessly. Perfect for my cutting board pieces. Not sure about the aluminum fence but it works well for my needs.

Jointer 4/13/2018

Bought this a month ago and it works great. I have jointed primarily Hard white maple and it handles it quite well. Only thing I would change is a visible depth of cut gauge for easier and more exact usage.

Disappointed 4/3/2018

I have to admit I am disappointed in the quality of this particular Jointer. This was my first Grizzly purchase after reading a number of good reviews about Grizzly products in general.
The problems I have with this jointer likely fall in the quality control category. For one, the fence itself cannot be aligned properly to the jointer bed, because the metal piece that is holding it is not quite straight, so that once the you lock the fence, it shifts its angle relevant to the bed, i.e it sits sideways to a small extent. I fixed this somewhat by adding rubber o-rings on one side of the fence holding assembly to correct the angle. The next big issue that I have is the lack of ability to make the infeed table parallel with the outfeed table. When they are parallel, the fence on the infeed side is not 90 vertical, where as the outfeed side is. This comes down to the fact that the infeed table has an ever so slight depression in the middle so that you have to choose your poison (either the fence is perfect or the tables are. Can be worked around with somewhat, but in my opinion, i should not have to.
Also, the screws on the underside cover seem to be made out of butter. Extremely easy to strip, which led me to replace them all.
On the plus side, Grizzly customer service has offered to replace this entire thing for me, so I definitely give them credit there. The problem at the time was that neither the infeed table nor the entire machine were in stock. I would have had to wait for more than a month to have anything back in my hands. Admittedly, I chose to just live with this as fixed as I could make it, because i didnt want to be without the tool for that long (needed it for various project). So part of this entire issue is definitely on me.
In the end, I either got a lemon, or the quality is just not that great. Nevertheless, the experience has me soured on Grizzly, especially since it is not easily returned or fixed locally for me. Hopefully other customers have better luck with this particular jointer.

Very happy so far! 3/26/2018

I bought this about a month ago and have used it several times and I am very happy with it so far. The instructions we good in how to put it together although it was a bit unclear as to how to use the handles for adjustments. I had never seen them before and was befuddled but my neighbor showed me how to use them and they work great.

I would also like to see more environmentally designed packaging material so all of the packaging material can be recycled.

Other than that really good product and only time will tell if it is excellent!!!

Nice Job Grizzly

An Accuracy Review 3/15/2018

I received this one in February 2018, build date (next to the serial number) October 2017. The original extruded aluminum fence was malformed and Grizzly was quick to replace it. I checked the replacement fence against a known flat surface and there was a small (~0.08 inch) twist. Not surprising for extruded aluminum. I was able to install the replacement fence in the "sweet spot" for most of the total length of the tables, including the out-feed table. Passes. The spiral cutterhead is correctly aligned with the out-feed table. A trusted straight edge gave me a maximum of 0.010-inch out-of-flatness (depression in the middle of the in-feed table) which is acceptable, according the Mark Duginske, "Mastering Woodworking Machines," The Taunton Press, 1992. I ran various lengths of scrap for face and edge jointing. Straight and square. Passes. The provided dust bag, driven by a blower in the machine, works pretty well. No need to route the dust to a separate collector. Passes again.

On set-up I made small adjustments to the alignment of the infeed table per the rather-good manual instructions. I also noted that the in- and out-feed tables are of reasonably thick cast aluminum, which I suspect were machined flat before powder coating ( I'm guessing). I topped it with Johnson Wax.

It would be nice if the drive belts for the cutterhead and dust blower were a bit more substantial, so I will order backups and see how it goes.

Overall, works for me.

Nice jointer 3/1/2018

This is a nice jointer, surprisingly heavy duty. The spiral cutter head does an awesome job! I waited to purchase a jointer until this unit was back in stock (a week)...glad I did. Wish my planet had the spiral head as well. Nice unit overall. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a jointer

This machine is so awesome. The wood is so smooth, I can use 400 grit sandpaper to finish it off. Now I need a planer just like it.

Got my table saw in and I am very very happy. Good Quality. 2/27/2018

Nothing bad to say about the two items I bought, a jointer and table saw. Very nice equipment.

Service good. Product not so good. It came with defective fence and replacement fence just as defective as first.

The spiral 6" joiner is a fine machine. I had it about a month and have used it a lot. It performs very well even taking a full 6" cut on hard wood. I would recommend it to anyone that just needs a small jointer.

great results straight out of the box 8/14/2017

This was payment for a job I completed and I can't be more thrilled. It has made quick work of small projects. Not only has it made the quality of my work better, but it has cut down on the time I spend on a project. The spiral cutter head gives such an amazing finish that sanding is almost unnecessary.

very pleased with the performance of this small jointer. would recommend it for the casual woodworker.
