A fine, well made and versatile piece of machinery that fits my benchtop perfectly
Perfect bench top saw. Came with proper alignment. Easily set up. Everything works great so far after a month's use.
Getting the table and fence trammed in was a little difficult. Found that the T square miter gage is made out of plastic. A aluminum miter gage would be so much better and squaring it to 90 degrees to the blade is hard to do. Found that the height adjust for the blade was binding and had to take it apart to free it up. Don't get me wrong I would still buy this band saw. It's like any machine you have to tweek it to get things just so, so. The light is worthless. When you turn it on and shine it on the work it shines in our eyes. They mounted the light on the wrong side of the band saw. It should have been mounted on the front so it shines away from you onto the work
After more than twenty five years of working with a 57 3/4 inch three wheeler that broke bands almost weekly , I bit the bullet and got one of these Grizzley 9 inch bench top bandsaws . WHAT A GREAT LITTLE SAW !
I comparatively shopped for hours looking at all the brands on the market and was disappointed with the amount of pot metal and plastic parts that were the usual. I don't remember exactly what it was that brought me to Grizzley , but I'm glad I looked .
A little taller than my previous Saw and therefore taking some time to get used to , but MUCH BETTER BUILT , and a pleasure to use.
A comprehensive owners / operation manual written obviously by English speaking technicians made set up a breeze . A,couple of MINOR and SIMPLE adjustments and t
Take my word for it , if your are looking at the two hundred dollar and less options for a small shop bandsaw , THIS is the tool you need to purchase . I'm COMPLETELY SATISFIED .
Great saw for a bench top model. This is an upgrade for me from another 9 benchtop (the red one), and theres no comparison. Fairly close to the same cost, but this saw is vastly better. Everythings better. The table, finer adjustments available, and the saw cuts much better. Very satisfied.
I was looking for a replacement of one that recently stopped working and needed repairs more the the cost of a replacement. I happen to recently purchase some repair parts for a Grizzlr belt sander that I Owen and have used for over 15 years. So I got to looking around on Grizzly web site and found this model bandsaw and check a couple of reviews and ordered it and have already used this on a couple of projects and it has fit exactly what I wanted.
I bought this Grizzly 9" Benchtop Bandsaw about a month ago after looking at various smaller band saws. I was especially pleased at the ease of the setup, many of the other saw reviews had some really bad stories about the difficulty of initial setup and swapping between blades or wood size. The Grizzly saw was very easy to set up and spot on to boot! Now maybe I'm not as precise as some of the gentlemen in those reviews but I did resaw four red oak boards down to 1/8" and didn't have any problems. Yes it definitely is slower on this unit than on the more powerful big brothers but this unit has made me very happy. I have already made two Christmas door ornaments and plan on doing much more. If you are thinking of getting a small (9 or 10 ") for light use this is a great choice.
I am very pleased I use it to make knife skills works great fine work
Very pleased with the quality and functions of this saw. Arrived in perfect shape. Used several times with great results. A keeper for sure.
The saw is well-designed and well-made for the price and should work well for my uses, however I want to complain about the work light. Ideally it should be mounted immediately above the blade and point down into the work. The light should have two sources with one on each side of the blade. The existing design has a flexible goose neck originating from the back of the housing but isn't long enough to reach all the way around to the front where the work is. I will modify this obvious afterthought to something more appropriate and have a fine bench saw.
Perfect as a second bandsaw, now I dont have to change blades as often. One saw for resawing and heavy work and one for smaller jobs.
Great bandsaw, dont have any problem, and I like it a lot.
I just got my saw and enjoyed setting it up and making my first cuts. I have other bandsaws and this one is a step above in many respects. My first cuts were like butter and perfectly straight. I will be using this for carving project and intarsia. I am very happy I purchased Grizzly. I also own their drum sander and could not be happier.
For what it is, this thing has a lot of bells and whistles. I have only used it twice, but it saws twenty times faster than the saw I had used for 2 decades, plus with the guides being bearings,, , this thing saws straight, a new phenomenon to be experienced by me. Have not changed blade yet, but one lever to trip and keep blade setting sounds great. The light works well, takes small amount of table top space , Heavy enough to stay put, yet light enough to move easley. Keep in mind this a top of the line inexpensive saw, with great features, at a reasonable price. This is great for my general use, but if I were a dedicated wood worker or in business , i personally would opt for larger floor model. But i really like this saw ,which fits my needs and is so much better than what l had previously.
Just what I needed. set up was easy; runs great; easy to use. LED light is great, but is really bright off the AL deck. Could be a little stiffer and hold its position better. VERY satisfied. Excellent buy...
I've used my band saw several times now with my Grandaughter for her small projects. The manual was clear and concise for assembly, checking tolerance, and the product arrived without damage, so the pacakaging was excellent also.
This is an Awesome saw. It has assisted me in building a Pergola for my sons upcoming wedding. Great Purchase.
Bandsaw came securely packaged and on time. Set up was easy and quick. Cuts are accurate. Has exceeded my expectations. If youre looking for an inexpensive but well working, well built tabletop bandsaw, this unit will definitely suit your needs. I would recommend this unit to others.
I had an old bandsaw that wobbled and couldn't deal with it anymore. I couldn't swing one for 6or 7 hundred at the time and bought this saw. NO regrets, it's a great little saw. I put it right o work, cut out 3 strat bodies no problem.
Durable saw built with longevity in mind. Easy to use for me, a first time bandsaw owner/user. Highly recommended.
Working great. Missed the info on factory set, but readjusted and works great. One thing you could do is add a 1/16 feeler gage.
I am very happy with the bandsaw. It is well constructed and I would recomend it to anyone needing small bandsaw.
Throat plate too large for small work
Light in wrong spot or cable too short
Slot in base plate should be towards side not front as interferes with very narrow cuts with thin stock
There is always room for improvement but bottom line is I would buy it again. No problems so far.
Well worth the money. Thank you for the Veterans discount. It was a nice gesture by Grizzly. Made the purchase all the sweeter!
This arrived yesterday and is the easiest piece equipment to set up! Have had 2 different brands of band saws before this and this is by far the best.
Works great from the start. Simple to set up and use. Great instruction/ owners manual.
What a great value! Great price and much better quality than I expected.
How did I live with the Ryobi band saw so long? This Grizzly is smooth and has the power needed for my woodworking uses. No more trying hard to to make a clean cut on a vibrating table! The saw is sturdy and smooth. The fence is a nice added touch at this price point. I had to clamp a board on the table base of my old band saw. One improvement they could make is to make the flex arm on the light longer and stiffer. It does not come around enough and does not stay in place the way I would like it to.
Grizzly has done it again! This bandsaw has exceeded my expectations. I will gladly recomend it to anyone!
It's been perfect for small detail jobs. Easy to assemble and use.
Didn't want to drop a fortune on a band saw but wanted something decent for guitar building. Cuts straight with good power, did an ash body, maple neck and various blocks of walnut up to 2 inches with no problems whatsoever. The light is fine you just have to bend around to the front to use it. Easy to set up and needed very little adjustment out of the box. I would highly recommend it and would defiantly purchase it again.
Great little saw. I bought this saw because I had to make some cuts thru double 2 x 12. Made cutting the 2 x 12 on the curve so much easier than with a jig saw. There are only 2 things I don't really care for. My local Lowe's / home depot only carry one blade in stock. Not a huge deal, I'll just order some back up blades from grizzly. The only other thing is the light needs to be put on the front side on the unit. With it in the back, it's hard to get it so you can see the lines you mark on your piece without getting blinded by it.
Overall I've been pleased with this saw. The tracking and most of the adjustments were great straight out of the box. It does everything that I would have expected it to do. However, making some of the adjustments can be difficult because when you open the covers everything inside is black. This makes it hard to see the different parts distinctly. Also, to open the lower cover you first need to remove a couple of screws holding the fence guide in place. And while I did have a dust seal fall off from a bearing, Grizzly was great about sending a replacement and did so very speedily. Overall I would recommend this saw as very good value for the price.
I have had this saw for a few months now and have only used it occasionally. The times I have used it, it worked really well. Clean cuts with no problems.
After a lot of research on the internet I bought this bandsaw- I've had it about a month and the only thing that would make me happier would be if I had bought one a bit larger. I'm just starting out in woodworking and having a ball using this thing. It's cutting true and is easy to adjust. I did have a minor issue when it arrived, but customer service took care of the problem right away.
Nice saw, came ready to go with minimal assembly. Only 20 minutes to adjust the table for square and true. Runs smooth with enough power for a small shop. The light is too bright, causes a glare.
Seems to be a little more carefully made than the clones in this group. Fills the niche between the scroll saw and larger band saw. I like the extras such as the work lite and the carrying handle as this makes it more portable and handy for what I do. Surprised what little vibration is experienced in a saw that is this light.
This band saw has everything you need, it worked great right out of the box, no adjustment needed.
Great saw and is portable.
Thank you Grizzly Industrial.
mine came with damage to the carry handle. one phone call and zip flap just like that, happy camper. cut 2" aluminum with the stock blade. wrapped the light around the back and across just above the power switch and it shines right on the leading edge of the blade.
I have a couple of projects that I will need this band saw for. I expect nothing less than a fine working machine same as all of my Grizzly tools in the past. Thank you for building a great product. Al Austin.
more money than other 9 inchers but well worth it big bang for the buck well thought out and made well
I'm building a 1:6 scale model of a fishing boat I plan to build when I retire. It's as well that I have embarked on the model first - all kinds of design issues and misunderstandings. I prefer to make my mistakes on the mockup first, and get the full-size boat right. I bought the G0803 bandsaw with both constructions in mind. I don't know how I could ever have done without a bandsaw. I have built so many models - this is the first in which I am getting all of the complex shapes and slots right. The G0803 is terrific, it's precise, it's easy to use and the more I use it, the better my cutting is getting. This is fantastic value for money. I also bought two spare blades which I have yet to use. I have no hesitation in giving this product 10 out of 10.
Nice bright light, 'BUT', I like to see ahead of the cut, not after. I have a difficult time getting the light positioned from the back side. From the back I get a lot of blare. I'm looking for a method to move the light to the opposite side.
Very nice bench top bandsaw. Handy for smaller projects rather than using my larger floor model. After several weeks of usage, I made a small modification. Moved the nice led light to the opposite side from original installation. Now I can see where I'm going rather than where I've been. Also changed the wiring to allow the light to come on when I power up rather than the separate switch. Even happier now with my purchase. Probably voided any warranty but it is an acceptable risk for much better lighting on my project.
Good saw. Well built, smooth running. The only downside is the location of the light. It cannot be positioned to illuminate the cut line. Overall I would recommend this purchase.
Received on time, well protected and in perfect condition. Easy to assemble with the included instructions, just a simple adjustment to tracking and fence. Made a good straight cut on 3.5" pine with easy pressure.
Really happy with this purchase!
This small band saw is doing a great job replacing my full size band saw. It does everything I need and was easy to setup.
Love it!! I use it mostly for cutting wood carving blanks. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. It has a great price with nice features.
I like this machine except for a few oddities. 1) The LED light while adequate is mounted in the wrong place. They need to engineer a retrofit that will make this more useful. 2) Something is amiss with tracking. Using the 1/8" blade with the doors open I would see the tracking go from one side of the wheel to the other, no real "on the mark" setting. Finally, I discovered that the slightly warped door when closed & latched bent the frame slightly to throw off tracking. After I adjusted to this it was OK. 3) While customer service was great, I should not have to ask where a part included in the package mounts. They responded with the answer but there should be a change to assembly instructions.
I've already used this bandsaw several times and am very pleased. It works very well and I can easily store it on a shelf when not in use. There is one thing that is a bit disappointing. The LED light, which functions well and is very bright is in an awkward location and doesn't stay in position. It could be improved.
Once I got it set up, with a little help from a u-tube video it worked like a charm
I purchased one of these for our robotics team to take with us on competitions. It is quiet and smooth. This little saw has handled everything we have thrown at it so far - aluminum, polycarbonate, wood. Not only were we pleased with it, but multiple teams used it in our pits and expressed how impressed they were. Another great value from Grizzly!
This is a far more accurate and far more sturdy model than the small bench-top band saws I've purchased form other manufacturers in the past. Right out of the box, I was able to set the guides in about 10 minutes, then slice paper-thin veneers and make accurate straight cuts using the fence that came with it.
This is a perfect bandsaw for the hobbyist. I took a lot of time going back and forth between the SKILL 9" as well as a few others. In the end though - in my opinion at the very least - it's worth it to have actual bearing guards over cooling blocks - that's not to mention the better quality table, fence, and other features this band saw comes with. Overall if you have a small shop and don't need to run wood pieces larger that 3.5" high through - this saw can't be beat.
I have previously purchased a 14 inch Grizzly bandsaw which I was very happy with, excellent value. I also purchased recently nine inch grizzly bandsaw for my winter home in Florida I am very surprised at the Quality of this benchtop machine I am a happy camper
This is my third table top bandsaw in the last 40 years and is the best one of all. Was not a problem to set up, the lite does not stay up but I had a lite off the last one that I adapted to this one and its great.I chose this model because they have been around a while and I think when I need parts they will have them.
I am not a commercial enterprise, just a man who likes to work with wood in his spare time as a hobby and as a service to others around me. I have searched for a bandsaw to fit my particular needs. Bought a name brand at a big box store, but returned it the very next day because the blade guide was broken. it was an obvious design flaw. The search indicated that smaller version apparently also meant cheaply built or poorly designed. I happened on the the G0803 and was encouraged by the features. Further research indicated a history of quality. Ordered the tool which arrived ahead of the promised time. It was easy to assemble and it works great. I could not possibly be any happier with the tool. its performance, the features, or the transaction.
Perfect for small or quick jobs, worked perfect right out of the box, easy to assemble, easy to move around.
I finally got other projects finished so I can return to building my latest model boat. The immediate task is to cut frames for the hull, from 0.090" styrene sheet. My new Grizzly 9" bandsaw made short work of cutting several frames. Love it!
Having used the saw more, I have a suggestion for improvement. It is very difficult to aim the work light directly at the leading edge of the blade. And the gooseneck does not hold a set position well.
It would also make operation easier if the blade tensioning lever were on the front of the machine, or if the lever was longer, so it could be seen from the front.
Otherwise the bandsaw works great.
With this Grizzly band saw, you get a lot for the money! Usable features, quality build.
I bought this about a month ago to replace my old band saw. It performs as good if not better than my original. Definitely a good decision.
I bought this several weeks ago, but haven't used it yet. Just much better than what I had.
I bought it about one month ago when my 14 inch bandsaw quit on me. I was in the middle of grandkid projects and this saw did the job admirably. Great for small cuts and very quiet. Set up easily right out of box.
I looked at a lot of bench top band saws. I just liked the way this one looked. It works great. love it.
Great benchtop bandsaw. Much quieter than my old one. Happy with my purchase.
Just the opposite experience of Justin. I bought a Harbor Freight 9" band saw, and never even got to plug it in; the upper blade guide shaft was broken and Harbor Freight doesn't have any replacement parts beyond saw blades (although they have a nicely labeled exploded diagram). After set up and a test of the Grizzly G0803 I used the band saw nearly non-stop for 2.5 hours cutting out Cub Scout Pinewood Derby cars... the unit performed flawlessly. Compared to the cheaper Harbor Freight 9" band saw item 60500, this saw has better documentation, roller bearings all around the blade guides, and you can get replacement parts if needed. My only "complaint" is that the flexible light doesn't have enough resistance to hold itself in place once positioned.
My first bandsaw and overall, I like the product. The directions could be more clear on centering the blade. Also, a few parts were not shipped with the order. Customer care sent those out after I called in.
I saw the complaint about the gooseneck light not holding its position, and that is valid. However, the bigger issue is that it's mounted on the wrong side of the machine. With it being behind the blade, it casts a shadow on your cut line. I've bent it around to the other side, but it still is not on target. May have to remount myself or get another supplemental light.
I planned on buying a complete shop from Grizzly, now I am not sure....First off I was supposed to get a military discount as told to me by a representative but the person I spoke too said I missed the Veteran's Day discount by one day, kind of disappointing after being informed otherwise.
I am not saying I will not buy anything from Grizzly again but I need to do some more looking around. I feel this product was very cheaply made, in fact even after looking at Harbor Freights model I would have rather went with them for my bandsaw (that's saying how cheap this model feels). I plan on going to your store and looking around I hope your other product are quality as I want my woodworking shop to last years and years but we will see who I buy from.
Haven't used it yet but plan to. Went together easily as was the whole transaction.
My 13 year old grandson wanted to do something for underprivileged kids at Christmas and we decided to make wood pull toys for toddlers. We bought this 9 inch bandsaw and after reading the manual and watching some YouTube videos, we feel safe operating the saw. I welded a nice base for the saw and we have been experimenting and learning what it can do. It has enough power to resaw 2x4s and we like using it much more than a table saw. Although it looks like several other brands of bandsaws, the Grizzly version is well made and has very good features like ball bearing blade guides and nice accessories like a very easy to use fence for the cast aluminum table. It was delivered in about 5 days, came in good shape and was very easy to setup and get running. We look forward to doing lots of things with this saw and enjoying its use. Im glad we bought it.
I bought this for my grandson, who is a budding woodworker. He loves the saw. I was very impressed with how the saw performed and the features that it has. I will continue to buy Grizzly products.
I have had this machine for 2 months and have over 200 hrs of run time , Great investment for my Knife shop.
Have used many times and it is reliable, easy to use, excellent product. Intend to by your new shaper soon.
Great for small projects. It is well built, especially when price is considered. I have a 20 floor unit for resawing and larger projects, but the little guy gets more regular use.
I am a big fan of Grizzly products and there is nothing wrong with the item other than there are others out there that are exactly the same for less money with free shipping ta boot. I should of done my home work first, well will know better next time. You pulled a fast one on me this time, Ed
Very nice saw for the price. LED light is great but saw bed could be less shiny to cut down glare when working
Received the bandsaw very quickly and it arrived in great shape. Set up wasnt bad, it wouldve been quicker if I was more familiar with bandsaws (havent used one since high school shop class) but the manual was easy to follow for set up. Cuts great on what Ive used it for so far.
I dont have room for a full size unit so I got this one. Im glad I did its perfect for what I need it for. With the proper blade it cuts hardwoods, aluminum, plastic anything you need to do and the vacuum port keeps everything nice and clean. Its the perfect size for anyone that does a bunch of small projects and It can handle some heavy projects as well!
I bought this for my son and he really likes it. This is the second one I bought, the first was for another son who is setting up a work shop in his garage too.I especially like the roller bearing guides on this small band-saw which are like the ones on my 14" Grizzly saw, model G0555P which isn't available anymore.
I bought this several weeks ago and it took time to get it put together only because I wanted my 11 year old grandson to participate. We had a good time putting together because we followed the directions to the letter, then we set it up using the Snodgrass method .The first cut he made was a heart for his mom(my daughter)
For the price point, this saw can't be beat...worth the extra money over the competitor's equivalents.
Really nice fence system. Only thing that's a bit annoying is the flex housing for the lamp- it doesn't want to stay put very well.
There may be a tension adjustment for it, I don't know. Not that big of a deal, really.
I've had three benchtop band saws and this one is by far is the best. Accurate cuts and overall guilty of the saw is fantastic.
I quickly set up my G0803 bandsaw when it arrived. Compared to my last saw of the same size, it runs like a Cadillac. Going through the set-up procedures, I was checking if the wheels were coplaner and was surprised to find the wheels were parallel, but not coplaner - the top wheel being IN more than the other by about 1/8 inch. I decided to shim the upper wheel but was a little distraught when I found that the wheel cannot be shimmed because it is held in place by a snap ring, rather than a nut. If I shim it out, I would never get the snap ring on as the groove would not be accessible. Maybe there is something I don't know about small band saws? Is it important that they be coplaner?
While in middle of a big project, my 33 year-old bandsaw crapped out. I immediately began looking for a replacement by visiting Sears, Home Depot, Lowes and Harbor Freight. All of the saws seemed questionable and online reviews weren't impressive. I looked at various manufacturers online before deciding to purchase my Grizzly. Best decision I made this year. The saw arrived on-schedule and set-up was rather quick. The only frustration was aligning the blade the first time. But once accomplished, the saw cut smooth and true each time. I highly recommend this bandsaw for any home woodworker.
The band saw is very easy to use and I really like the quality of the blades--the very best that I have ever used. I have another band saw (Sears 12 inch) which I
have had for over 30 years. My Grizzly has many features which are superior to the old one.
So far I'm satisfied, we'll see how it performs long term.
Haven't had my Benchtop bandsaw for very long but so far I am very happy with it. The manual was very clear and allowed me to setup the saw very Quickly and with no errors. Tested the saw and cross cut and rip were dead on and square.
I bought this about 2 months ago and waited until I had used it a few times to do this review. I have to say I am happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a small bench top saw. While assembling (quite easy) I took note of the quality of the unit. Especially the blade guides, table and fence. All of those items are much nicer than any of the other, less expensive competitors products. In setting the unit up, I followed the steps and other than one thing, set up was easy and accurate. That one thing, is that there are no instructions to adjust the blade guide assembly parallel to the blade both side to side and front to back. Do that after setting your table square to the blade, otherwise, you'll have to adjust the bearings every time you change the blade guide height. Two items frequently complained about in reviews of this saw are the light assembly and the lower cover hitting the fence guide knobs. They are valid complaints, but I just draped the light over the guide height adjustment knob and adjusted it to light up the area directly in front of, and the blade. Yes, it's not the best, but most of the competition doesn't even have a light. The other issue, the door hitting the fence rail knobs should also be addressed by the manufacturer. If the knobs were about 1/8" shorter, the door would clear and there would still be plenty of knob for even the fattest of thumbs to operate. Take note though, that the fence has to either be removed from the table or on the far right side of the table for the door to clear the fence lock-down mechanism and handle to allow the door to fully open.
Things I'd like to see addressed: The fore mentioned light and door issues, inclusion of a step in the manual for setting the guide assembly parallel to the blade. And, (probably a stretch), but including a small square that fits the space between table and fully raised guides would save a lot of searching around for something to fit, or having to go out and buy a set of small machinists squares (which are a little pricey) for the set-up of the saw.
I have only used this saw a few times since assembling it but so far I like it very much. It came well-adjusted right out of the box. the blade ran true and cut nice and straight, much better than my 50+ year-old Rockwell Delta I had before this. I will agree with other reviewers that the light needs more rigidity once you move it it. Otherwise happy.. Ag ood value saw.
I am not happy with this product. It does not do what the manual says it will do. You cannot use a 3/8" blade because the bearing runs continuously in which the manual says will burn it up.
