Solid construction, should last a long time. Stainless steel base and meat container. Plastic piston with metal thread insert. Frame is heavy nickel plated steel.
Only down side is the finish inside the meat container. Many small spiral scratches for bacteria to hide in. Must be thoroughly cleaned before and after use. I would suggest a commercial sanitizer (I use B-T-F Iodophor Sanitizer). All of my stuffing tubes had a molding burr on the end that had to be removed to prevent the casings from snagging.
If it wasn't for the rough finnish on the inside of the meat container, this would have been a five star unit.
I own this stuffer since more than 2 years and made several batches of sausage. It is easy to use and clean. The only thing I have to complain is the quality of the 16 tooth gear, I noticed some metal flakes on the lid and planned to take it apart after I am finished making sausage..... I didn't make it that far..... I took it apart and found that the threaded insert bushing failed rather than the UHMW. On the plus side Grizzly offers spare parts for it. Replacing the broken gear is less than 20 min. At this point I give it a 4 out of 5 assuming something was wrong with the gear bushing itself. I count on getting a defect free new gear. I recommend to get a spare gear when buying the stuffer, it is cheap insurance.
