The G0714 Industrial Blast Cabinet I will rate as excellent-however one problem but is not enough to knock down a star-the gloves that are provided with the machine are 8-12 inches shorter than needed to actually maneuver and control. The gloves that come with the cabinet-do not even allow you to hang the nozzle head up on its factory hook within the cabinet-order longer gloves.
Excellent cabinet, good fasteners, ample support and heavy gauge construction. Great lighting. I would recommend this blaster. I did modify the pickup with an air regulator to prevent surging, but this was done before testing the unit. I have zero issues and am already making money with this tool.
It was an upgrade from an older unit. It is hands down more user friendly and functions much better.
This blaster is not bad for the money , I guess. But it does have some leaks. Th e fittings could be better. But I really don't like the thin material used on the legs which support the unit. The bottom plates on the unit bend easily. (not good) I guess I will have to find a welder to weld me some reinforcing plates on the legs.
Been using this cabinet for a few months now so I can give a fair assessment of its quality.
First the Pros:
-Larger work area than most other blast cabinets
-Easy to assemble
-Media syphon system performs poorly
-Media leaks from many places around the cabinet
-Non standard regulator fitting supplied with unit
Before I could use this cabinet for the first time I had to track down an adapter for the regulator which came with a BSP (british std pipe) fitting so it could be used with typical NPT fittings available in the USA. First called Grizzly customer service and they didn't even know what type or size the fitting supplied with the cabinet was so I was on my own. Next issue was the media syphon tube. It performs mediocre at best, drawing media at an uneven rate and quitting regularly requiring the tube to be purged. This was with brand new dry media. I gave up after the first hour and installed a much better media regulator to the bottom trap door. As the first reviewer said, this makes the media draw as it should. Once blasting at a regular pace I noticed the floor around the back of the cabinet was covered with media so I ended up having to reseal the top and bottom halves of the cabinet with RTV. Leaks are better but I noticed most of the leak is coming from somewhere in the vacuum canister.
This is a very nice cabinet for the price size and very thoughtful construction.
The things I really like:
*The way the product is shipped allows for relatively easy assembly though it is heavy.
*Integrated dust collector and lighting controls. Turning on the lights and dust collector couldn't be easier form the control panel.
*Quality Construction. It is very heavy gauge metal. The inside work area will support lots of weight. Good door lift and locks.
*Very air tight. This doesn't leak media anywhere in about the week or so that I've been using it.
*Plenty of working room. This thing is big!
*Great lighting. The 4 or five lights in it make for great viewing while working.
The sole item that could be better is the sand siphon system. I've retrofitted mine with a mixing valve and removed the poor tube suctions system. I can't imagine why the lower end blast cabinet would come with the air/sand mix valve and this machine wouldn't? Had it come with the mixing valve, this would have been a hands down 5 star system. As it is, I purchased a mix valve and the extra tubing for about 85 dollars and now the cabinet can be dialed in for the material you are blasting.
For those of you who might not know the mix valve makes the cabinet way more efficient with air and media. Once dialed in, you don't get the surging, lack of media followed by a glut of media you get with siphon tubes.
If you are wondering what it is, look at the lower model blast cabinet. The thing sticking out the bottom of the cabinet is the mix valve. How I wish this one would have come with one.
The only other thing I added was some small rubber casters so I can easily move the cabinet into position.
