We carry top quality Potentiometers for a variety of applications. The difference between the A type and B type is the curve (see drawings). The A type pot reaches almost 75% capacity with half a turn while the B type is strictly incremental. Due to the way the curves work, the B type is normally used for Volume and the A type for the Tone, although some prefer A type for both Tone and Volume. Most Les Paul® type guitars use the 500k ohm pot and most Strat® type guitars use the 250k ohm pot, although it is strictly personal preference. The B50k ohm pot (H6370) is mainly used on bass guitars either as Volume or Tone. The H6371 balance pot is also used mainly on bass guitars and functions similarly to a toggle switch. It has a center click where both bridge and neck pickups are selected or you can turn the knob to select either pickup. All of our pots feature brass shafts for use on high-end guitars.
