I bought this about two weeks ago and have already set it up on the mill and put several projects through it. High quality material; accurate and easy set up for square; and provides an extremely stable platform for my gun work.
This vise is just OK. Nothing special at all. It holds work pieces very tight and does work, but I broke a bolt in my T-slot my first use. It twisted right off, with not much pressure, so you might plan on upgrading those. The other bad part is, my vise isn't the most square when it closes. The right side touches and I can see daylight in the left side of the jaws. When I'm holding work pieces the vise can be tightened enough that goes away, but still, it's crooked until you tighten it down pretty tight.
Overall it works good enough after I got some real bolts to hold down the vise. I just use mine for holding work in my import mill/drill, so it's good enough, but if you are looking for a precise vise for milling precise items, you may as well just pay more and get a better one.
The 5" vice is for my mill and on some projects I use two to hold parts. By removing the swivel base they mount near perfect with less than .001" run out between both. This is a sturdy vice and the clamping pressure is great with little amount of clamp pressure needed to hold the parts.
It is a good size vice for a good price. Shipping to Hawaii costs extra but it was worth it. My configuration does not require the rotary portion because it increases the height reducing my working envelope. I would recommend this vice to others.
As others have said it is not in the same class as a Kurt brand but it works great. No issues at all. Excellent clamping force and the finish is very good. Dial indicator has no movement across the face of the jaws. Great value for the money.
