I bought this tooling to cut the bullnose for stair treads I was making. The treads are southern yellow pine. Running forward, it cut as expected, with minimal tear-out, but a fair amount of cutter ridges left in the wood. In order to reduce the amount of sanding I would have to do to get rid of the ridges, I tried running the cutter backwards, and lightly climb-cutting the profiles (can only be done using a power-feed!). Unfortunately, the burning this produced in the wood was worse than the ridges. I have climb-cut with other shaper cutters and router bits successfully. So, I don't know if it was the SY Pine (that winter growth can be hard as a rock), that the cutter is not produced with a terribly sharp edge, or if the cutter's geometry is not adequate to do climb cutting. Nonetheless, the price must be considered in any review of value. And this cutter is very reasonably priced. So, yes, for the money, I think it did a nice job (in forward mode). I have only used it for about 40 LF of wood, so I can't speak to the durability of its edge. Hope this review helps.
