Product arrived and was as expected. I bought this lathe for pen turning and other smaller items to replace a floor model that no longer worked. After the Grizzly lathe arrived , I fixed the floor model to my surprise. I liked the Grizzly so much, I decided to keep it anyway. It works well.
My first lathe. Very easy to set up and start learning. I received in only a few days in perfect condition.
Great smaller size lathe, using it to turn game calls and other small projects. Very happy this tool so far!
Does everything I want it to do. Ordering was quick and easy.
Shipping was the same. I would recommend this product and store to everyone.
Bought this a year ago. Great lathe, but has some issues that can be fixed.
Mine began surging 2 weeks ago. I unplugged the potentiometer (speed dial) to chase the issue. It continued. My next step would be the motor carbon brushes. Found it. One was trashed on one side causing brief moments on non-contact. I GENTLY sanded to repair. Now, take note that this is NOT a Grizzly "original" product. It's a rebrand copy.
ORDER SETS OF BRUSHES. PART# PT25926029
ORDER PART #PT25926037 because the metal is soft.
It's a good lathe for starters, but GRIZZLY CAN DO BETTER.
i bought this one month ago. works good but the lathe speed indicator came broke. making sounds as if it lose.
I upgraded to this lathe from a smaller wood lathe from harbor freight. Wow! what a huge difference! I love the variable speed control, the sturdiness of the machine, and combined with the 4 jaw chuck, it can hold material bigger than my other lathe could ever do. The price is excellent for what you're getting. Highly recommended!
I got 10x18 variable speed wood lathe and I live it more than my old jet mini wood lathe. I am so happy wit grizzle
I purchased this lathe because I was just getting back into turning and did not want to drop $700 to $1000 dollars on a piece of equipment right away.
The good. Set up is easy price point is great for a starter. Coustomer service was the best I have encountered
The bad. I tracked my shipment it arrived that night I went to set up the lathe so I could start turning that weekend I in boxed the unit noticing a ding on a corner I pulled it out and began setting it up when I started to put the feet on I noticed it. I 6" crack down the leg of the cast going up to the bed. I took pictures and called costumer service since they were closed I left a message and followed up with an email.
Here is where the costumer service became great
The next morning on a Saturday I got an email back and a phone call. The person in charge of shipping was not in that day but they had already put a new order in and shipping it out that day
They asked for pictures of the box and lathe.
The sent the carrier out with a label to pick up the old one and deliver the new one a few day later.
Then they followed up once it was delivered to insure I was satisfied with the product.
If your like me and respect a company or person standing behind there product I would highly suggest grizzly they have earned my future business.
I was going to buy another brand but after checking specs on this and many others I bought this one. I'm glad I did. It has features not found on much more expensive equipment, such as the speed changes without belt changing all the time. I have found that the lower speed belt position is about perfect for what I do and the variable speed on the fly is super nice. I am planning on making spindles for stool legs and turning more for threading screws for moxon vise. Looking forward to many years of service. Buy the GRIZZLY, you won't be sorry.
I bought this lathe just before Christmas, to make some pens for gifts. I quickly found out it can do so much more. I am selling off my old harbor freight 40" because it doesn't even compare to this thing. I turned around 50 or 60 pens, a few candle sticks, and various othe things without a problem. I am now going to buy a 4 jaw chuck and try a few bowls in it. This lathe is worth every penny, very solid and runs true and quiet. This lathe brought me back to turning after a few years away. great machine!!
