Excellent. Great for light duty work. None of the issues that were described in the earlier reviews. 07/30/2020 5:35:32 PM

I bought this for light-duty work including straightening dented panels for small (British) cars. not heavy fabrication but just smoothing out mild steel panels. I have also used it to form compound curves in sheet aluminum with no trouble.

I had none of the issues that were described in the earlier reviews (so maybe Grizzly got them all fixed.) The wheels are all good, fit well, and the frame is dead-square. The frame is more than stiff enough for my needs. (I had considered going with the more expensive 22" model due to the negative comments, but I decided to go with this one as it seemed that I could fix any of the issues described in the earlier comments.)

The Lower Wheel Bracket" post that slips inside of the frame was a bit sloppy, with about 0.035" of space between the frame Square tube inside diameter and the wheel Lower Wheel Bracket" square tube outside diameter, so I made a 0.030" shim with a 90-degree bend in it to make that a slip fit with almost no slop.

Top wheel has deep grinding grooves that leave marks in the formed metal.
Lower wheel axles all required filing to fit the lower wheel bearings and the lower wheel bracket.
One bearing on the 2-1/2 lower wheel is about 1mm loose on the axle.
Purchased the tool on sale so I worked through the issues to make it useable. With more care in the manufacturing process this tool would be an excellent value.

Not usable as is. 02/20/2019 1:07:03 PM

I bought this on sale for $90, so I wasn't expecting much. I got it put together and tried to use it. There is so much play in the adjuster for the bottom wheel that when you put any tension on it the wheel kicks over so much that it is almost not touching the top wheel. Also the cradle for the bottom wheel was welded on crooked so the wheel sits uneven.

Good deal for the money. 02/17/2019 11:31:01 PM

Went together easy, should be able to take care of those small to medium jobs.

I read the reviews and It's exactly as they say. Upper wheel bracket is not at 90 degrees and if you take a hammer & hit it for correction it isn't going to stay as it needs reinforcement. I knew this and I will reinforce most of the entire rig. However, unless you have the time and a welder, I would not recommend it. I got what I paid for so there's no complaint.

Cheap its cheap 02/14/2019 3:55:08 PM

Its a cheap tool and it works like a cheap tool. Worked as expected because I wasnt expecting much. Will do 20g steel if you dont need much shape.

Good small tool 02/13/2019 1:09:01 PM

I have always been fascinated with the English Wheel and bought this to learn how it works. It's small and easy to use and store. It will be good for small jobs such as patch panels. But, for body panels and other large jobs you will need a larger version.

It is not square. So the wheels do not match up correctly. I will have fix it some how ,thinking about cutting it apart and welding it back square. Any ideas?

Very good for the price 08/25/2018 12:10:36 PM

I bought this english wheel to make repair panels for my project car. It worked OK for what i wanted but with some issues like alignment of the wheels and flex of the frame. After adding some bushing to the big wheel and some support to the frame (clamped a steel bar between the top and bottom frame members), it works great!

Im very happy with the purchase. It works great with the mods. Plus it is relatively small and easy to store when not in use. Great for a space limited shop. I would recommend to anyone interested in making things like patch panels etc. great product IMHO.

Its inexpensive. Works ok with modifications 05/29/2018 2:18:38 AM

First delivery had to be sent back because of unusable bent frame. Prompt replacement was sent.. the dies are decent for the money but you cant expect much. Lower die moves left to right 1/2even after shimming. I still think its worth the money but will require mods to be even close to accurate and reasonably functional. With simple mods it is a great cheap investment and will do its job for small work.

Only one available in this price range 05/11/2018 1:26:30 PM

I wanted to try an English wheel for smaller parts without investing a lot of money. The frame is not rigid at all and the bottom adjuster has a lot of play. But at this price point, it was worth it just to get the dies. I figured I could always make a better, more rigid frame. To get something better, you'll spend 3-4 times as much and still may not get much better. If you like to weld and fabricate, you can easily improve or replace the frame. I would have liked for the main upper wheel to be wider. I suspect that a wider wheel would probably not work well with this flimsy frame though. I ordered mine in October and didn't get it till May due to it being on backorder. Luckily I wasn't in a hurry.

Good tool for the home handyman and shop. 05/10/2018 1:29:34 PM

This tool makes it a lot easier to form compound curves in metal There is a learning curve to using it and I still have lot to learn. A great tool for the price.

Not good !! 05/10/2018 12:12:51 PM

The frame was out of alignment. not square ! l had to make another frame to get the alignment correct. The rollers; okay

Nice little unit.. Getting to know the basics of the English Wheel. I had to shim and adjust by bending the lower wheel to get it aligned enough to use it. For the price though it was worth it.

Good deal for the price. I'm working on a project that requires this tool and have never used one before so this was perfect.

I'm a beginner with the English Wheel, and this entry level wheel is just right to learn techniques.

Beginner found this useful 06/02/2017 12:54:46 AM

I wanted to try metalshaping with simple tools, without spending a lot. This is the cheapest English Wheel that I could find that comes with a set of rollers. To my surprise, it actually works fine. The small size allows you to do something like a motorcycle fender, which won't even fit in a larger, expensive english wheel. For shaping tight radii, you need a small wheel like this. For big pieces with not much curvature, you need the big wheels. The small wheel support on this unit is really flexy and the tightening handle keeps unscrewing while you're working. I was going to make a few simple mods to this, but I picked up the larger yellow frame wheel from a competitor for cheap, and then I adapted this units small wheels to that other wheel. However, for the money, this is well worth it. This wheel does work. The photos show my first ever attempt at metal shaping.

New at experimenting with metal working in my shop, more as a hobby, there's plenty of product out there, but I figured that this would be a good start without spending a fortune, a good and well made product for starter.

Good product at great price 01/26/2017 3:52:47 AM

Good product gussets need to be thicker metal. There is some flex between top and bottom dies if you don't reinforce the frame.
