G0694 20" x 43" Heavy-Duty Variable-Speed Wood Lathe

Packed with features for the serious wood turner.

The G0694 20" x 43" Variable-Speed Wood Lathe was built for heavy-duty use from the ground up. Starting with its massive cast-iron construction, this lathe will minimize vibration.

The 3 hp Delta single-phase frequency drive provides 3-phase variable speed control with single-phase power supply. The variable-speed control knob and digital RPM readout make it easy to dial in the perfect spindle speed between 100 and 3200 RPM.

The outboard tool rest and double-sided spindle allows for the turning of workpieces with diameters larger than 20" on the outboard side of the lathe.

A forward/reverse switch and floor-supported cast-iron outboard tool rest also provide full flexibility for any outboard turning job. If you are a serious wood turner or looking to increase your turning capabilities, you owe it to yourself to give this lathe serious consideration.

Like all Grizzly wood lathes, the G0694 comes with a 1-year warranty which covers parts and assures the unit is free from factory defects. (Consumables are not covered by the warranty.)

The G0694 manual was written by our U.S. based Technical Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy to read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your woodworking lathe.

The Grizzly Customer Service and Technical Support Teams are U.S. based. Parts and accessories for the lathe are available on-line and shipped from the Grizzly parts warehouse in Springfield, MO.

I am very pleased with this machine but there is a few changes I made to it.
1. I change the handle on the tail stock. The one on it is to small and replace it with a large handle that I could put more pressure on. Its not round but a six inch handle that doesnt interfere with my tools when I turning the center of my bowl. If my handle is in the way I just give it another half turn or so to get it out of the way.
2. I took a four outlet electrical outlet and mounted it on the side . Cheap add on but very useful when you are using a sander or electrical tool.
3. I plan on put a stop switch on the other side so I can turn it off when I working on the end for larger pieces like 25 to 30 inch bowls. To turn it off I Have to go around to the front and that could be dangerous in so many ways.
4. I plan on doing in the front is to add a board that goes across the front ( 3/4 by 20 or more inchs side and the length of the opening so I can add sand to the overall weight to the lathe to help with vibration. Im hoping the when turning bowls that weight is over 50 to as much as 200 pounds ,will help with vibration. Cheap add on.

All of these things are cheap add on and I think will make it a better machine. If you see something that I shouldnt do please let me know.
I have other equipment from grizzly that are great and I appreciate grizzly for making equipment that are good at a fair price.
I love the lathe and look forward to making some great things on it. Keep up the good work and if you are interested in what I think of your belt sander or 6 inch joiner give me a call. At 828 -260-7729 . I hate typing.
Thanks again and I hope my suggestions are helpful.

Incredible Lathe 06/14/2020 9:25:12 PM

Just like all of Grizzly's products that I own, this lathe is awesome. It can do everything from pens to log hollowing.

I have the Clark Deep Hollowing System on mine as well.

Excellent and heavy duty!!! 01/09/2019 4:26:35 PM

Have owned this lathe for several years, very heavy duty and great quality. Advertised at a low speed of 50RPM, I can easily turn at 25rpm for large, heavy, out-of-balance projects. If I had one wish, it would be the ability to turn projects up to 8 feet long but I think no one makes such a lathe.

So, if you are looking for heavy duty lathe, I can recommend this one!!

I purchased this lathe a few months ago and overall I am really happy with it. What Im not happy with is that the tool rest post is 1.25 and there are no accessory tool rests available with that large of a post. I need a curve tool rest for bowls and Grisslys Response was go to a machine shop to have one made.
