This is an excellent set of lathe chisel tools. I have not used it yet, but it is a perfect selection for beginners, and I like the storage case for them as it slides neatly between my drill press stand and table saw.

I bought this to use with a small lathe. The choses were delivered but the lathe is on back order.

My husband said these tools were a must to have. He's very pleased with the quality of the set and the aluminum box.

Good Starter set 01/29/2017 3:05:35 AM

This is a great starter set of chisels for the cost. I used the case for a solid 2 weeks until I built a steady stand for my tools so don't let the case be the selling point! However, after using these tools for a little over 2 years, I must say that I am rather impressed with the quality I got for the price. I only really have to sharpen the bowl gouge once before turning to turn a medium sized bowl from start to finish which is enough for me. The edge does last a little longer than that but by then I typically just hit the grinder so I can take heavier cuts. Of these tools I used these tools from most to least: Bowl gouge, parting tool, scraper, skew, spindle gouge, and roughing gouge. Great quality for the price to figure out exactly what you like to turn which in my case was bowls. The gouges have enough steel on them to experiment with different grinds and they will probably last you a lot longer than the bowl gouge lasted me (I still have over an inch of flute left) but by then you will probably have gotten new full size tools. In summary, don't let the price of these tools allow you to under estimate their quality.
