I have to admit I am disappointed in the quality of this particular Jointer. This was my first Grizzly purchase after reading a number of good reviews about Grizzly products in general.
The problems I have with this jointer likely fall in the quality control category. For one, the fence itself cannot be aligned properly to the jointer bed, because the metal piece that is holding it is not quite straight, so that once the you lock the fence, it shifts its angle relevant to the bed, i.e it sits sideways to a small extent. I fixed this somewhat by adding rubber o-rings on one side of the fence holding assembly to correct the angle. The next big issue that I have is the lack of ability to make the infeed table parallel with the outfeed table. When they are parallel, the fence on the infeed side is not 90 vertical, where as the outfeed side is. This comes down to the fact that the infeed table has an ever so slight depression in the middle so that you have to choose your poison (either the fence is perfect or the tables are. Can be worked around with somewhat, but in my opinion, i should not have to.
Also, the screws on the underside cover seem to be made out of butter. Extremely easy to strip, which led me to replace them all.
On the plus side, Grizzly customer service has offered to replace this entire thing for me, so I definitely give them credit there. The problem at the time was that neither the infeed table nor the entire machine were in stock. I would have had to wait for more than a month to have anything back in my hands. Admittedly, I chose to just live with this as fixed as I could make it, because i didnt want to be without the tool for that long (needed it for various project). So part of this entire issue is definitely on me.
In the end, I either got a lemon, or the quality is just not that great. Nevertheless, the experience has me soured on Grizzly, especially since it is not easily returned or fixed locally for me. Hopefully other customers have better luck with this particular jointer.
