Missed the sawdust 08/05/2020 1:15:34 PM

This is the second sander I purchased, My first one was in 2000. I sold the sander last year because I was moving and I didn't know if I was going to do woodworking any longer. The allure of sawdust got the best of me so again I am into woodworking, I have been doing woodworking 60 + years.

My 40 year old edge sander finally died. I thought I might not replace it. But after one project I realized how much I used one .
So I started looking at other manufacturers and decided on this machine.....great decision.
It does everything I need without isues.
Everything is square, flush and easy to use and assemble. I really like the speed, which us a little slower than my old Bridgewood.
I needed help from Grizzly techs to get it tracking properly, but that was on me.
Without reservation, I would recommend this machine.

Built for the long haul 08/24/2019 2:26:00 AM

I just purchased this machine last weekend. It was shipped to me from Bellingham since I only live 40 minutes away. I chose to ship it because my pickup has a electrical issue and I dont trust it to go that far. I bought this nice sander through the Affirm Financing Program. The process was painless and only took a few minutes to get qualified.
Back to the sander, we use these at my work to sand various heavy aluminum parts daily. There we do not baby the equipment, its a heavy duty tool and it gets full and heavy usage.

I looked for a used sander like this for months. Finally settled on a new one and Im really glad I did. When I got it, the UPS man helped me slide it into my old pickup truck from his truck with a hydraulic tailgate. The outside of the box was almost perfect but had one spot where a forklift tine poked it a bit. No damage inside at all but the UPS man made sure that we documented it on the shipping bill.
I was able to wrestle the beast to my shop after opening the box and taking out all of the bolt on parts.

I used a furniture dolly to rest the pallet on and pulled it into the shop. After that, I set about cleaning the bolt on parts with WD-40 and Goof Off. Mostly just wet it down with the spray and waited a couple of minutes, then wiped it off with a couple of shop towels and scraped the edges with a paint stirring stick.

The instruction manual was very well laid out and the parts were easily attached with metric hand tools. Al in all, it took a little over an hour including the cleaning to set it up. Dont hurry, its actually fun to put it together, everything fit perfectly and I was impressed with the fit and finish. Setting the belt tracking was easy.

I made a custom cord to plug it in. I used 10/3 220 volt bulk cable and picked a 250 volt Hubble plugin for my shop power. Everything came along and the sander was complete. I build custom walking sticks with 6061 billet aluminum handles. The 80 grit belt made short work of the profiling process, perfect!
I would highly recommend this sander for any custom heavy duty sanding needs. Its a real tiger! Im sure it will outlive my needs. Now to choose a great Grizzly lathe for prototyping, hmm, now which one....

powerful sander 03/05/2019 8:52:21 PM

Bought my machine in 2006, Excellent edge sander. Easy setup. I would recommend using high strength belt paper that is bonded with a butt joint and not overlapped.

I have had NO luck with this belt sander...........first .. there was missing parts(easily resolved). second.. I'm not a electrician so I had a pro switch the pre-wired from 220 to 110, bought and installed a 110 plug ....and wallah nothing! I've had 3 neighbors look at it and fiddle with it and still no power. It's to big to ship back....what am I to do with this 250 pound white elephant? HELP!

As usual, a great machine at a great price 10/06/2017 2:02:52 PM

I have had the sanded for about a month or so and I never figured I would use it as much as I have, but it is a nice addition to my shop, like just about everyone sanding is on the bottom of my list of wood working tasks, this sander really speeds up that task

I have about 10 Grizzly machines, and am very satisfied with every one of them. They have replaced the Powermatics and Deltas, not that they were worn out, just wanted larger capacity machines and the Grizzly machines have done a great job filling the extra capacity

OK product but one issue 08/16/2017 3:08:36 PM

I do like the tool but the dust guard interferes with the sanding motion so I can't use the dust collector when sanding long boards. My brother has an older one and it doesn't have this problem.

A usefull, indispensible tool in my shop. 06/29/2017 10:27:45 AM

I have looked at this sander for a while and finally dropped the hammer on it.....One of the best decisions I've made lately. I use this sander for countless tasks. I am very impressed with its power and the fit, finish, and precision of manufacture. Grizzly can always be trusted to deliver quality, usefulness, and value at a fair price. Another facet of Grizzly that I appreciate is their commitment to my satisfaction with my purchases.

Just what we needed in our shop. 06/21/2017 12:12:50 PM

We were able to assemble the sander and adjust it quickly. Have been using it more than we thought we would.

This is a fantastic sander, I use it a lot. Two or three times a day. It is everything the Grizzly catalogue says it is.
I also purchased the Grizzly 5HP tilting spindle Shaper last year and I use it a couple of hours every day, six days a week. Very smooth running Shaper with no runout at all . Good quality machine. I am very very happy with it and all the cutters I ordered with it as well.
Nice clean finish and no chatter marks whatsoever.
When I'm ready to jump up to a 16 inch Jointer, I will be looking at a Grizzly.
I also have a Grizzly 24 inch double drum sander that I bought used and it performs extremely well also. I am a believer !!! Pete Conlogue Chesapeake, Virginia

Pretty good 01/26/2017 5:20:40 AM

I had it shipped and there were a few missing pieces. Also the on/off switch housing was broken so that sucked, but it's a nice machine, works well. I use it for only metal so I'm hard on it.
