This grinder has become a secret passion for me.l am brand new to this type of grinder but am finding that this helps in the sense of 'no guidelines-no limitations'. This machine not only can sharpen many types of cutters with quite a number of degrees of angle but can also shape HSS including T15 and high Cobalt HSS.Highly recommended (especially) for passionate beginners.

    Decent product 03/30/2018 1:51:29 PM

I've used this machine on a number of end mills and drills and it does the job quite well. 30 seconds with a worn drill bit returns it to new condition. The wheel that comes with it is not suitable for carbide so if you are planning on using it for that purpose, get the diamond wheel. I suggest a grit higher than 200 for a good finish. Just like virtually any tool, this tool takes skill to use properly. Use a dust shield and dust mask as the dust from carbide can be rather irritating.

    A Gem Of A Machine 03/12/2018 7:54:53 PM

I bought this delightful and precision grinder to make special cutters for my shop. I bought all of the accessories, except for the metric collets and the drill sharpening fixture as I prefer to sharpen drills by hand. This machine is similar to the German Deckel, except that machine costs about ten times more than this one, and this machine is much better, because the upper quill allows you to dress the grinding wheel on the fly, without removing the work piece first. While the machine is really intended to grind single lip cutters, you can use it to grind the flutes of end mills and also grind forms on lathe tool bits. The instruction manual that came with the machine is poorly written and hard to understand, but because I learned years ago how to use this machine, working in my dad's mold making shop, I can grind all kinds of cutters without any problem. I think if the instructions were better, more tradesmen / craftsmen would realize how necessary this grinder is for a well equipped shop, either metal working or wood working. Fred M.
