All hoses are not created equal. Apparently, the manufacturers have begun building in a "locking" feature so the segments of the hose can be pushed together to make it rigid. For my application, I needed a hose that was flexible along its entire length. This hose has the same locking feature, but it's less aggressive in its grip. That is, I can pull segments apart and it will stay apart. The hose I had before would go back to its rigid state immediately. This isn't the pluperfect hose, but it does the job if you need a truly flexible hose.
