H7565 14" Corrugated Sole Jack Plane

A beautifully made corrugated sole jack plane with precision fit and finish.

Jack Planes (from “jack of all trades”) or fore planes are general-purpose utility planes that shave large amounts of material from rough stock and bring it closer to final size.

The H7565 14" Corrugated Sole Jack Plane can be useful for smoothing and jointing a flat surface as well, depending on the size of the workpiece.

The 14" ground corrugated and flat sole improves sliding action by reducing friction on the workpiece as there is less metal surface area of metal in contact with the wood.

The corrugations can also hold paraffin or wax to apply a finish simultaneously.

An additional benefit would be having less material to flatten should the plane sole change shape.

The chip breaker helps ''break'' and curl the shavings to minimize tear out ahead of the cutting edge. It also supports the blade to reduce chatter.

The mouth opening is easy to adjust because of the knurled brass adjusting nut.

Features include a hardwood handle and front knob, full plane iron adjustments, cast-iron base, and frog and lever caps.
