What started out as a need for a personal lathe, but having empty pockets, Shiraz begin buying used lathes, fixing them and selling them for a little profit. Eventually, he made enough money to buy his own lathe and realized, this could be a good business! So that's where Mr. Balolia started when he founded this Bellingham-based company in 1983. He named it Grizzly, since all other animals are afraid of grizzlies, and then he transformed what had been a woodworking hobby into one of the largest machinery companies in the United States.
