Our new CNC lathe comes with a variable-speed 10 HP motor hooked up to a 3 speed gear box. The gear changes are M-code controlled - it’s all done on the fly! You get 17" of swing supported by a D1-8 spindle, mounted in 3 bearings, providing smooth, accurate turning. Coupled with a 13" wide bed made of high quality cast iron, this 6050 lb. machine can handle the toughest jobs and it’s no slouch with 236 IPM (inches per minute) X rapids and 314 IPM Z rapids. Our success with Centroid controllers on our milling machines made it an obvious choice for this lathe. The Centroid T400 has robust electronics, user friendly interface and is installed and tested by Centroid technicians, right at the factory. Actually, this machine is tested at the factory by three sets of engineers, the factory's, Grizzly engineers and Centroid. Among its best features is its easy-to-use conversational programming with “teach” mode, powerful graphing feature that allows you to see tool paths before running a job, stop/start during a job to make changes to part diameter or compensate for tool wear and in process speed/feed rate override. As with Centroid's mill controller, you can upload g-code from your CAD/CAM programs using USB or the RS-232 port.
