Shop Fox D2674 Jack Plane

Jack Planes (from “jack of all trades”) or fore planes are general-purpose utility planes that shave large amounts of material from rough stock and bring it closer to final size.

The Shop Fox D2674 Jack Plane can be useful for smoothing and jointing a flat surface as well, depending on the size of the workpiece.

This jack plane is 2" wide and 14" long, with precision-ground cast-iron construction for years of dependable use.

The 14" long sole makes for accurate smoothing and jointing.

The slightly greater heft of the cast-iron base, compared to other metals, helps keep the cut smooth.

The chip breaker helps ''break'' and curl the shavings to minimize tear out ahead of the cutting edge. It also supports the blade to reduce chatter.

The mouth opening is easy to adjust because of the knurled brass adjusting nut.

Like all Shop Fox hand tools, the D2674 comes with a 1-year warranty which covers parts and assures the unit is free from factory defects.
