T33861 Walrus Oil® Cutting Board Oil 32oz
Finish and maintain your cutting board with the product trusted by professional woodworkers.
No matter how well made, wooden cutting boards require proper maintenance to last. Without regular treatment they will dry out, crack, and can even begin growing mold on the surface. Cutting board oil only takes seconds to apply and it solves all of these problems. Plus, it will leave your board with a silky-smooth finish, rich color, and an attractive sheen.
Wood preserving oils penetrate and seal the wood surface with water-repelling beeswax that helps cutting boards last for generations. Designed for new builds or for reconditioning, the oil is 100% food-safe and free of toxins and synthetics.
A heavy-duty cutting board oil that doesn't require multiple coats.
FEATURES:
- Certified food contact safe ingredients
- Semi-gloss finish
- Unscented
PROJECT IDEAS:
- Cutting boards
- Butcher blocks
- Charcuterie boards
- Wooden bowls and utensils
For New Wood Projects
When using Cutting Board Oil for new wood projects, it’s best to have a finish sanding between 320 and 600-grit. To prevent raised grain, some woodworkers will sand-wet-sand before sealing, meaning they will sand the board, wet it, let it dry, and then do a final sand before applying a finish.
How to Maintain or Restore a Cutting Board
Maintaining and restoring cutting boards is simple. Clean the cutting board first with light soap and lukewarm water, then allow plenty of time to dry. If there are deep knife cuts or if any mold is visible, sanding the board down will be necessary using an electric orbit sander or planer. After sanding all surfaces simply apply a coat of the oil and allow it to dry for 12 to 24 hours. Wipe away any excess oil after cure time.
Safe for Food-Contact Surfaces
Every product manufactured by Walrus Oil is 100% Food-Safe. All ingredients are considered GRAS (generally regarded as safe) by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for food-contact surfaces. In addition, it can be used on kitchen butcher block counters, cutting boards, wood utensils, and even baby toys.
Using Cutting Board Oil with Other Products
Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil can be used in conjunction with most other oil-based finishes or epoxy and resins, such as when making a "river board" or when using wood pieces that have had cracks and holes filled with epoxy.
