I bought the G0961 a couple of months ago and am very happy with it. I wish I had gotten it years ago. It will work very well in my cabinet shop.
No feedback given
Be careful purchasing dust collection with this saw. The collection port is tapered to the point its impossible to tighten a clamp without pulling the clamp/pipe off the port. Tech solution when contacted, try using adhesive foam. Quite a solution to a $2000.00 saw purchase when the simple fix is supplying a straight wall fitting or include taper fittings required. I wont be doing mail order again without eyes-on first & my opinion of tech support took a SERIOUS hit with this experience.
Only complaint so far is that the top had rust on it. I hear so many complaints about too much protectant on the finished cast iron surfaces I was surprised to see very little on my table saw top. Light surface rust in several spots. I did not expect to see this from a saw that costs this much. More review after i use it for a while.
I have been using this saw almost daily for several months and I couldn't be happier with it. The saw has plenty of power and it very well built. The only thing I don't like is that the dence stays square until you try to lock it and it kicks the end out slightly. It doesn't seem to affect the cut but by less than a 64th of an inch.
I have been purchasing Grizzly tools now for about 7 years. The table saw is my 5th machine purchased and as usual the quality is outstanding. I am hoping to upgrade my 15 inch planner to a 20 inch here in the near future.
It is a beautiful saw. Likely more than I need, but certainly useful.
The saw itself is great. More than enough power. Smooth operation during raising and tilting the blade. Low/No vibration. The only problem I have is with the fence. For the life of me, I cannot get the fence to stay square when locking it in place.
I bought this saw when I took on a huge cabinet job. Used it to replace a Delta saw and this one is hands down superior in quality, accuracy, and speed. I purchased the Mobile kit and out feed rollers and love it. Takes a while to assemble but which decent mechanical skills its not hard. Easy to adjust and set up for accuracy and when used with a good rust collection system it barely produces any saw dust. I used it a week solid without ever sweeping the floor. My old saw, an hour and Im sweeping!
Miss advertised the top width no matter how you put fence on you can only get a max of 49 1/2 inches and not 50 other than that good saw
Bought this saw about a month ago after looking for about 2 months. Decided on the Griz and I'm very glad I did. Smooth running. Easy blade height and angle adjustment. Excellent saw. I am an avid woodworker but I don't do this for a living. I'm 60. The Griz replaced an ancient Jet Cabinet Saw and it has been just fine. I'd recommend it to anybody.
This is a fine saw. Plenty of power and fence works great. Couldn't be happier. I will be purchasing more equipment from Grizzly
Great tool, holes that hold the front tube rail to the bracket was drilled wrong for mounting screws
Called and had a drill bit and tap sent out to drill and thread new holes
Not a big deal, overall great saw
I bought the saw one month ago ,easy to set up and does everything I expected it to do it will be a great asset to my woodshop !!
We are a cabinet shop and recently purchased this saw we absolutely love it. We also have a couple more Grizzly machines Would recommend purchasing any Grizzly products.
I'm a building contractor and have been looking at this saw for 2 years. I had an opportunity to use one at a customer's home and fell in love with it, what a great machine. I'm thrilled to be able to add this to my shop. It is rather quiet compared to many table saws of this magnitude. The long rail option is well worth the added cost especially for the rip width that it facilitates. My last saws arbor only allowed a 2 5/8" depth of cut and was easily bogged down at that depth. This saw has been virtually unstoppable even at 3" depth of cut in pine. A great saw, highly recommended.
This saw was delivered by UPS. The box and pallet used to transport was severely damaged. The box that contained the front rail was completely torn open and the rail was scratched, bent and chipped. In addition, the hardware was missing from the box. That said, the saw is a beautiful machine and I would purchase it again no question about it. Mainly because of the Grizzly customer service, which is second to none. The person that handled my claim was named Lewis. He was polite and replaced the damaged parts no questions asked. Lewis is definitely in the right job. Thanks Grizzly. Hurry up and send me my backordered jointer and tell UPS to take it easy. Sincerely, Ron P
Best piece of equipment I've ever bought. Easy setup and oh so awesome to use!!
Finally got a cabinet grade table saw. Perfect present from the misses for my 60th birthday. This saw does exactly what I expected it to do. Actually went to Springfield to see it up close and personal then ordered it for delivery. Having it delivered was the best thing as opposed to picking it up in the store, what I paid in shipping was less than the MO tax would have been. Slight delivery rash and one busted open box with the rails when it got to the house but the crating and packaging kept all pieces well protected. Took about four hours to setup and dial it in, but I was very particular and got it all within .005 - .01 on parallel and flat. My pencil marks are more inaccurate than this saw. I also got the mobile base and was glad I looked at the reviews for them. The base is good but the two fixed casters were going to be a pain to use, based on when I tried to move the saw in the Springfield store. Opted to purchase separately two additional corner braces, magnetic feet and knobs and the additional caster wheels. Put it all together and this saw can be positioned anywhere and moves effortlessly. Grizzly should really consider this as an option to purchase, luckily someone else had my issues and listed the parts required. Added an additional $75 to the mobile base price but oh so worth it if you want to move it.
I'm a hobbyist cabinet maker. My dad's workshop needed a better tablesaw than the one he used as a contractor for 20+ years. So we live in Hawaii where prices are very high when it comes to tablesaws. I couldn't find a tablesaw here in Hawaii with the same specs as the G0691 for the price. Dad was able to set it up with no problems. Nice straight cuts out of the box! My wife has a nice long "honey-to-do" list. This saw will definitely be put to good use.
My wife bought me this saw for my birthday. Took two people to set up, but we'll worth it. Fence run-out was just perfect at a few thousands out. In my opinion there are far better blades then that comes with it, but that's hardly worth bring up. Everything was true and flat and works great.
Purchased 1 month ago and everything so far is perfect. Setup was easy, and I was able to calibrate everything to perfection. The only negative is the blade they send with the saw and that really means nothing. Once a good blade was on it it would leave everything with a glass finish right off the saw. Buy this saw. The gold standard isn't what is use to be. Go GRIZZLY!
I'm so Impressed with this big boy. I have never had a tool this nice. I did a lot of research and comparing .So glad I ordered it from you guys. This was so nice that I ordered the G0513X2 Extreme Model 17in band saw and the Grizzly 1 1/2 Hp Dust collector. Thanks again! I'll be back...
Out of the box I had a couple missing bolts/screws but they were items that were easily replaced at Lowes. Tool was packed very well. Assembly went slow but probably mostly me paying attention to details. Getting rip fence square was a little bit of a handle but she's great now. Did a couple very small shop projects but now am finishing a 4' x 5' out feed table with 33 drawers. A lot of setup changes and replicated cuts and saw is performing like a champ - I love it. This is being used in a home shop but I get serious about my work. Previous saw was a Rockwell 10" Contractors Saw and always wanted something better. I am very pleased and would definitely recommend to others.
Very pleased with this saw. Assembly was not complicated and very little adjustment was needed beyond the factory settings.
I am a custom cabinet maker other than kitchen cabinets (I work solo and do not need the headache). This Saw is great and is solidly built well spent money!
My son in law talked me into buying this table saw ,he builds cabinets for a living, , it is awesome .. It is one piece of equipment that i have in my shop that is fun to use..thanks,Rick Boren
I am a relative newbie in woodworking, and wanted to get started with really good but budget conscious tools to start a shop. This Grizzly table saw is perfect. Very high quality, yet affordable. Just could not justify a higher priced competitor. I'm in the shop 1-2 days a week.
I was disappointed when the first saw arrived having been severely damaged in shipping. But I was impressed that one phone call to Grizzly and a few emailed pictures from me was all it took to get it shipped back and a replacement sent, about 10 days in all. The return process was completely painless, and the people were extremely good to deal with.
There is no doubt I will be purchasing again from this company.
By the way, they have a huge print catalog that they sent. It's got everything and the prices are right.
I've been building cabinets for years now. I used to have a 10" table that was adequate for the space I had. I have recently built a new shop. Lots of space. This table is a dream to work with. After installing the table, the first thing I did is make an outfeed table to go with it. Now the overall dimensions are approximately 8'x8'. Now with this saw and table, full size plywood is no longer a challenge. And did I mention it's precise.
I ordered this saw and it arrived via UPS freight five days later (including a weekend). Everything was received in excellent order. I spent the better part of a day putting it together and checking the alignment. This is my fourth table saw of this type so I am extremely familiar with setup and alignment procedures for several brands. Alignment as received was incredible. I used my In Line Tools A-Line-It dial indicator to check everything. I was so shocked that the blade to mitre slot alignment was 0.000" that I thought something was wrong. So I took the dial inceptor apart and put it back together. Same results. So I tried a different blade. Same results. I have never seen ANY tool come out of the box aligned exactly. Not so fast there; the blade 90 degree alignment was off by one tenth of a degree reading 89.9 degrees on my Wixey digital angle gauge. Also the fence was set for 0.010" run out which I feel is too much so I set it back to 0.003" which is what I prefer. But unless you have precision alignment tools you will never notice these minor nits.
Next I had to make some sawdust test and I can happily say that the saw easily exceeded my high expectations for it. The bottom line though is "would I buy this saw again?" And the answer is an unqualified YES. An excellent saw at an good price. What else can you ask for.
COULD NOT BELIEVE SPEED OF SHIPPING BY TRUCK FREIGHT TO START WITH, ORDERED ON A TUESDAY AFTERNOON EVERYTHING ARRIVED IN GOOD SHAPE THURSDAY EVENING. VERY EASY DIRECTIONS TO PUT TOGETHER, IT ALSO HELPED THAT I HAD 3 PEOPLE TO PUT IT TOGETHER. ESPECIALLY TAKING IT OUT OF THE SHIPPING PALLET AND PUTTING IT ON THE CART,ONCE THAT WAS COMPLETE ALL BOLTS AND NUTS WORKED WELL PUTTING TOGETHER.AS LONG AS WE READ EVERYTHING THEN PUT TOGETHER USING BOLTS AND NUTS AS DESCRIBED IT WENT TOGETHER IN ABOUT 2 HOURS. THAT'S THE CART AND VAC SYSTEM ALSO. FIRED UP BOTH UNITS AND STARTED CUTTING. WHAT A NICE SAW IT IS. PUT TOGETHER TABLE AND EXTENSION'S PLUS FENCE EVERYTHING FIT WITH PRECISION. AS IF IT WERE PUT TOGETHER PRIOR TO SHIPPING TO EXACT SPECS. VERY HAPPY WITH THE GRIZZLY SAW AND VAC THAT I CHOSE.
Just a line to say the saw came on Saturday. Spent a good part of the day (taking my time), setting it up. Everything fit well, and alignment was excellent. The cast iron extensions fit level, without shimming. Blade alignment to miter slot was excellent also. Even the riving knife, and blade guard aligned, and no further adjustment was required.
I also took the time to run some 'tests'...wow! To be able to make cuts without bogging down is pure enjoyment. As for the rip fence, now I know what I'd been missing. Move it where I want, lock it down...and it stays.
I thank your team for a positive experience, and hope to be able to deal again in the future.
Common Questions and Answers about the G0691:
What are the main differences between the G1023RL-Series and the G0690-Series table saws?
Aside from color and outward appearances, there are 6 primary differences between these series of machines: the drive system, dust extraction components, switch lock-ability, blade guard spreader/riving knife release mechanism, the fence, and the country of origin.
How do the G0651 and G0652 saws compare to the other Grizzly 10" cabinet saws, such as the G1023RL series or the G0690-91?
The G0651/G0652 are our top-of-the-line "Extreme Series" 10" cabinet saws. They are made in Taiwan under strict quality-control standards to ensure premium fit-and-finish, smooth functionality of all moving parts, and an industrial-grade level of durability and accuracy. Other, more obvious features that make these saws unique are the included rear extension table, extension-table storage shelves, and a digital readout for the angle of blade tilt. Like the G1023RL series saws, the G0651-52 table saws are equipped with the same type of padlock compatible "lock out" mag switch, a poly-V belt drive system for smoother, quieter power transfer, and the underside of the blade is encapsulated with a dust hood for improved dust collection and reduced maintenance/cleaning inside the cabinet. Additionally, the fence system included with the G0651-52 saws is similar in function and design to the Shop Fox Classic Fence included with the G1023RL-series models, except it has aluminum fence faces and scale indicators that read on both sides of the fence, allowing easy fence use on either side of the blade.
What is the difference between the G1023RL-Series and G0690-Series belt-drive systems?
The G1023RL-series features a poly-V "Serpentine" belt-drive system, which is quieter and transfers power more efficiently than a standard single V-belt drive system. The G0690-series features a triple V-belt drive system, which does a better job of maintaining a consistent transfer of power when under load than a standard single V-belt drive system.
What is the difference between the G1023RL-Series and G0690-Series dust extraction systems?
The G1023RL-series encapsulates the underside of the blade with a dust hood that is connected directly to the dust port via an internal dust hose. This allows a dust collector to remove the majority of dust that falls through the table, and it helps keep the other components inside the cabinet clean. This system requires less cleaning and maintenance than that of saws where the dust falls straight through to the bottom of the cabinet. The G0690-series has a fully-enclosed cabinet with a sloped bottom that allows gravity to direct incoming dust toward the dust port.
What is the difference between the G1023RL-Series and G0690-Series mag switches?
The G1023RL-series features a lockable mag switch with an included key-lock padlock. The G0690-series features a mag switch that can also be disabled from accidental use with a special pin, but it does not accommodate a padlock, so it can't be completely locked.
What is the difference between the G1023RL-Series and G0690-Series blade guard spreader/riving knife release mechanism?
The G1023RL-series is equipped with a quick-release lever to unlock/lock the spreader/riving knife when changing between blade guards. The G0690-series is equipped with an easily-accessible knurled knob that unlocks/locks the spreader/riving knife with a quick rotation.
What is the difference between the G1023RL-Series and G0690-Series fence?
The G1023RL-series features the hugely popular Shop Fox Classic Fence, which has been a customer favorite for nearly two decades due to its adjustment simplicity and performance reliability. The G0690-series fence is very similar to the Shop Fox Classic Fence in all ways, except that it locks against the front rail on three sides instead of two. Aside from allowing it to lock more firmly in place, the added side of rail contact also provides an additional axis of adjustability when calibrating fence accuracy.
Can I install an H7507 extension wing router table on this saw?
Yes, but because the G0690/G0691 uses different fence rails than the G1023RL-Series saws, you will need to drill your own mounting holes in the H7507 to make it fit properly in place of the stock wing. Instead of going to all this work, we recommend getting the T10222 Router Table Extension, which was designed especially for this saw. Not only is this option much easier to install, but it also includes its own independent fence system, a starting pin, four miter slots, and an auxiliary support leg for increased stability.
General Questions and Answers:
How do I know which size of motor I'll need for my table saw?
Assuming the correct blade is installed for any specific type of cut, the answer primarily depends on these three factors: (1) your average stock thickness, (2) your typical wood type or variety, and (3) your anticipated cutting frequency or overall demands placed on the saw. First, it is important to note that with a slow enough feed rate, any of our table saws can cut through a piece of hardwood up to that saw's maximum cutting height. Unfortunately, using too slow of a feed rate can result in burn marks in your workpiece, and using a feed rate that is so aggressive that it causes a motor to bog down will quickly increase the motor's internal temperature to a state of thermal breakdown. Once a motor reaches this state, continued operation (without allowing sufficient cool-down time between cuts) will result in the motor becoming so hot that its winding insulation will completely fail and the motor will die. A larger motor, however, could easily perform the exact same type of work without ever reaching a state of thermal breakdown. With that in mind, your goal should be to select a motor size that will handle the majority of what you'll be cutting on a regular basis, without bogging the motor down. To translate this into a more practical perspective, generally speaking, a 1.5 HP motor used with an aggressive feed rate can repeatedly cut 6/4 (1.5") soft woods and 4/4 (1") hardwoods without bogging down. A 3 HP motor, on the other hand, can repeatedly cut the same type of stock with the same type of feed rate at approximately twice that size without bogging down.
What are the differences between contractor, hybrid, and cabinet saws?
A "Contractor" table saw is generally a light-duty saw with an open-stand and is usually equipped with a 1.5 HP to 2 HP motor that can be operated on a common 120V power supply, making it portable and convenient enough to take from jobsite to jobsite for carpentry work, trim work, and small cabinetry or furniture work. To keep the weight down, contractor saws often use sheet-metal wings instead of cast-iron wings, and their trunnions and other internal components use less cast iron or steel, making them much less beefy than those same components used in cabinet saws. A few other typical hallmarks of contractor saws are non-enclosed motors (making them slightly louder and sometimes resulting in a lack of dust collection) and trunnions mounted to the bottom of the table instead of the cabinet (making them slightly more difficult to align the blade to the miter slot or fence). The lighter-duty components used in their construction typically means that contractor saws also cost less than other saw types. The low cost, high portability, and convenience of operating on a 120V power supply, combined with included fence systems that often rival those used on cabinet saws, has historically made the contractor saw a favorite option for the hobbyist or beginning woodworker. A "Cabinet" table saw is a heavy-duty saw with an enclosed cabinet-style stand and usually a 3 HP or larger motor that operates on a 240V power supply, making it the top choice for professional woodworkers, serious amateurs, or production shops that require day-in and day-out reliability and the ability to regularly cut thick hardwoods. Unlike contractor saws, cabinet saws have much thicker castings for the trunnions and arbor assembly, which attach to the cabinet instead of the table (making blade alignment adjustments easier), and they usually have full cast-iron wings, which combined with the beefier trunnions and heavy cabinet stand, give them a lot more vibration-dampening weight. Additionally, the enclosed cabinet stands result in quieter operation and usually have much better dust collection. A "Hybrid" table saw is a newer category of saw that is considered to be a cross between a contractor saw and a cabinet saw. Like cabinet saws, hybrid saws typically have cabinets or stands with enclosed motors (providing quieter operation and easier dust collection) and trunnions that mount to the stand (making blade alignment adjustments easier). Like contractor saws, hybrids are generally constructed with lighter-duty components and materials (keeping costs and overall weight down), and they are usually equipped with 1.5 HP to 2 HP motors (allowing them to operate on a common 120V power supply). Because hybrid saws are often priced near contractor saws and they offer many of the additional benefits that cabinet saws provide over contractor saws, they are quickly becoming the saw of choice for the serious hobbyist or the professional woodworker on a budget.
How do I know what type of blade I should buy?
Blade choice is determined by the type and purpose of cut, hardness and thickness of stock, and desired trade-offs between cutting speed versus cut quality. Generally speaking, a blade with fewer teeth cuts faster but makes a lower quality cut, and a blade with more teeth cuts slower but makes a higher quality cut. We offer a wide variety of blades from a handful of different manufacturers. All of our blades are clearly designated by either blade function, cut type, or material type.
What is the purpose of the riving knife?
The riving knife is used for non-through cuts. It is a metal plate positioned in alignment behind the blade to prevent the newly-cut workpiece sides from pinching on or pushing against the backside of the blade and causing kickback. The riving knife also acts as a barrier behind the blade to reduce the risk of hands being pulled into the blade if they are positioned incorrectly when kickback occurs.
Can I still use my table saw without connecting it to a dust collector?
Yes, but we don't recommend it. Without using a dust collector, the dust will quickly pile up inside and around your machine, resulting in additional cleaning time later. Besides making a mess, fine dust can be harmful to your respiratory system. A better choice is to connect your table saw to a properly-designed dust collection system that at least pulls the recommended minimum CFM for your saw's dust port.
Can I cut metal or other non-wood materials with your table saws?
Although our table saws will physically cut many different types of materials, they are only designed to cut natural wood or wood-based materials (plywood, MDF, OSB, etc.). Cutting materials not intended to be cut on a woodworking table saw can result in serious injury to the operator or bystanders, and it could decrease the life of the saw and void the warranty.
