I bought this grinder very recently and I can highly recommend it as a very solid machine. As background, I'm an engineer with considerable machine shop experience and I've used the big names in toolmaking equipment, including Deckel, Brown & Sharpe, Gorton, Alexander, etc. I was going to order one of the Chinese versions on the well-known auction site but decided to go with Grizzly due to past experience with them and their excellent service (machine was received via UPS in less than a week!) This machine is outstanding and very, very solid. First off, it weighs about 90 lbs. so it's no lightweight copy. The mechanisms are all very solid and "wiggle-free" and it's easy to lock in angles on all the axes. The collets are a tight and accurate fit in the chuck, and the rotating and micrometer adjustments are precise. I put an indicator on the chuck with a 1/4" drill rod and it read less than 0.0004" TIR, which is excellent. I then ground a smaller diameter on that rod and re-measured the new surface, it measured less than 0.0003" TIR. That's about the limit of what I can reliably measure in my shop with a B&S indicator reading 0.0001". The whole setup comes with four collets, two wheels (one mounted), a spare belt, a manual, all the service tools and an LED work lamp. I'm very impressed with this machine and would recommend it for almost anyone's use. The only way you'll do better is to go all-out and buy an actual Deckel SOE or equivalent, but a 20-year-old used model will cost you at least $2500, and more than 4x that for a new one. The only very minor complaints I can find (just so you don't think I'm faking this review!) are (1) the micrometer adjustments are precise but have some "stick" in parts of their rotation, I expect these will smooth out with use, (2) there were some chips in the paint and the bottom plate was dented from shipping, and (3) there was a LOT of grease to clean off the machine, BUT once cleaned-off the machine was pristine, not a speck of rust or corrosion of any sort. Great work, Grizzly, and thanks for providing an excellent machine at an excellent value!
