T33242 168" x 1" x .035" x 3 TPI Hook Carbide-Tipped Bandsaw Blade
A premium 168" carbide hook blade for ripping boards to size.
These steel blades have carbide teeth which will cut faster and stay sharp the longest of all the blades available. The razor-sharp teeth have been precision-ground and the carbide tips are brazed into the pockets. The carbide tip is stronger and can resist more heat than non-carbide blades.
Hooked blades are most common for long cuts in thicker workpieces. The hooked tooth geometry is aggressive with the hook angled down towards the surface of the workpiece. This helps increase the feed rate through the material, but leaves tearout on the bottom of the workpiece.
Width is an important factor when considering a new blade. The typical range is as small as 1/8" wide to 3/4" wide. This 1" wide blade is amazing for resaw cutting; you will want to fit the widest blade available for your machine. It is good for contour sawing with a minimum radius of 7".
Typically, there are more teeth per inch for narrower blades compared to wider blades. We mostly sell hook blades from 2 to 6 TPI versions. This means the 3 TPI cuts slower than the 6 TPI blades.
The flex back blade helps with absorbing the stresses of cutting curves. It is heat-treated at the teeth, leaving the back with more flexibility for movement through the material.
The 168" length blade fits the Grizzly G0503, Grizzly G0701, General 18" 90-270HD, Minimax 20" MM20, and Wood-Mizer HR-series bandsaws including the HR150 and HR250.
Choosing the correct blade can seem like a helpless task. Using the incorrect blade can dramatically affect your bandsaw’s operation. With this explanation, the factors you would select the T33242 168" x 1" x .035" x 3 TPI Hook Carbide-Tipped Bandsaw Blade should make total sense for your needs.
