Bandsaws are machines used for cutting various types of materials. The three most common uses are for woodworking, metalworking, and lumbering. This South Bend machine is a vertical woodworking bandsaw. Woodworking bandsaws will help you with ripping, resawing, and breaking down boards to smaller pieces.
This South Bend machine is equipped with a 3-horsepower motor, which is larger than comparable saws with similar cutting width left of the blade. Beyond the power and size benefits, another major advantage with this type of saw is that it offers a larger workspace, positioning, and table size.
Its extra-large 25-5/8" x 20-7/8" x 2" thick precision-ground cast-iron table combined with its stout steel frame, cast-iron wheels, and cast-iron trunnions all work together to minimize vibration, lead to greater accuracy, and higher-quality work.
A 131-1/2" blade is looped around two computer-balanced wheels to execute highly uniformed cutting. Bandsaw blades come in various widths, thicknesses, and tooth configurations. The narrower a blade is, the tighter curves you can cut. A wider blade is more stable and will track straighter.
Quality and value.
Your intended use of the saw will determine the required configuration, shape, and spacing of the teeth. Less teeth on a blade will make quick, rough cuts. A blade with more teeth will make a finer cut and will take longer compared to a blade with less teeth.
This machine is relatively heavy for its size, meaning it can handle a lot of pressure. The quick-change blade release/tensioner easily removes the tension off the blade. A blade tension indicator helps the operator monitor the tension in real time.
The cast-iron fence has a two-position extruded aluminum resaw fence for ripping and resawing. The fence can be used in the vertical position for normal workpieces or in the horizontal position for thin workpieces.
The stand has a built-in storage cabinet to keep your most used cutting accessories and personal protective equipment within reach. A foot brake stops the blade wheels and turns the motor off.
