T25920 12" x 18" Variable-Speed Benchtop Wood Lathe

Refining the benchtop lathe.

The Grizzly T25920 12" x 18" Variable-Speed Wood Lathe comes with a standard 3/4 HP motor. The variable speed control gives you the range (650-3800 RPM) and flexibility for any turning project.

Heavy-duty cast-iron construction provides plenty of mass and stability for wood turning. Bolt up to the 3-1/4” faceplate and turn plates and bowls up to 12" wide and spindles up to 16-1/2" long.

The 8" x 30" footprint won’t take up a ton of space on your workbench. Add the optional T27327 Bed Extension and you've got a full-size lathe that can turn up to 40" between centers.

The T25920 is the perfect lathe for pen turning, bowl work or those new to wood turning. Setup out of the box is simple and you will be turning in no time!

Like all of the Grizzly lathes, the T25920 comes with a 1-year warranty covering parts and assuring the unit is free from factory defects. (Consumables are not covered by the warranty.)

The manual for the T25920 was written by our U.S. based Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy to read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your lathe.

The Grizzly Technical Support team is U.S. based. Parts and accessories for the mill/drill are available on-line and shipped from the Grizzly parts warehouse in Springfield, MO.

Perfect Lathe for me 01/17/2020 1:52:09 PM

This is the perfect Lathe for me, some have said the speed does not go low enough for bowl turning; however, unless you are doing a large bowl it works fine. Because 95% of my work is spindle work I couldn't ask for a better lathe with smaller foot print.

Great Machine! 12/13/2019 6:39:34 PM

I was able to spin up a project right out of the box. Adding new accessories, bowl chuck, tail stock chuck, enjoying the lathe a lot, very pleased.

It's my first lathe so I have nothing to compare it to. However, it seems to be a solid machine and does what it needs to do.

Great tool! Works very well easy to set up. Totally worth the money. My only complaint is that it took close to 6 months after ordering to receive it!

Great first lathe 07/29/2018 5:29:22 PM

Other than sub standard packaging to resist the forces inflicted during the shipping process, the lathe is well made, runs true and has enough power to turn anything I will try as a rookie turner. I also purchased the bed extension and 'am happy with it as well.

Great wood lathe, pleasant to work 06/27/2018 2:05:30 PM

I have been using this machine T25920 for 2 years already. No problems at all. The lathe is reliable, perfectly and noiselessly working. Variable-Speed is a very convenient thing, and also a DRO for RPM. I really like this machine. I advise everyone who wants to have a reliable, inexpensive and pleasant to work wood lathe.

great lathe but one issue 02/23/2018 6:35:33 PM

had this lathe for over a year now and runs great but the belt stretched out after 2 weeks and cant find a replacement belt so I had to modify the belt tension and is a pain in the ass when adjusting belt for different speeds but runs great. good for pen turning and small bowls and turnings. note to grizzly.com- "plz sell replacement belts or better belt tension".

Great Product 12/30/2017 9:07:30 PM

I also bought a wood chuck but had to return for a replacement, on the lathe, the tool rest is really rough needed to be cleaned up from the casting. where my finger goes for guiding the tool is so rough it made my finger sore also the top where the tool rides is rough. otherwise I am satisfied. The lathe works fine as intended. The power switch failed and Grizzly sent me a new one ASAP. I replaced the tool rest with a better one from Rockler. All these mini lathes have lousy tool rests. Currently all I do is spindle turning. The 3/4 hp motor is up to the task.

Great machine for the money. However, I wish I wouldve purchased the next size up. Im not used to working on a scaled down machine. The tool rest and tail stock often times interfere with each other. I would recommend getting the bed extension. Other than that, its a cool little lathe.

I put off buying a lathe for a long time, Ive never owned one, I really like this one, not too big and very quiet, easy to use.

I am glad I picked this one up, I love it.

This is a powerful and smooth machine. I had a lot of trouble with delivery with UPS. They damaged several machines before I received this one. 3/4 HP motor is strong. I had to adjust the belt when I got it, but, other than that it is working well. Grizzly is a great company. They will always take care of you if you have any issues with their machines. Look forward to many years of their products. If you have questions you can call me at 4693832530. Be glad to talk to you.

Very happy with it 07/18/2017 11:59:56 AM

The first one was damaged in shipping. Grizzly made it very easy to return it. The new one works great. Very quiet. I have a small shop and this is a good size for me. I got the extension table just in case. If all you do is turn, this may not be a good fit. But, if you have an occasional need for a lathe this is perfect. Although now that I have it, I find that I keep a bowl blank on it and it's hard to walk by it without picking up a tool and flipping on the switch.

Update: I've been using the lathe now for a few weeks. I mostly use it at the lower speeds. My only complaint is that if you try to take too big a bite, it will stall. As long as I keep my gouges sharp and don't get a big catch it runs fine. The speed control is very handy.

Really like this lathe. Love Grizzly. 07/08/2017 1:58:57 PM

Lathe was easy to order, shipping was earlier than expected, and the lathe was an easy set up. I have never owned a lathe and bought this for spindles and a sheet music stand plus whatever else comes to mind but mainly as a compliment to my furniture building. Since I started practicing on this I have turned some bowls, spindles, a cup and am loving it. A simple level of experience with any belt driven shop tools will allow an easy understanding of operation and the manual was fine to answer any questions I couldn't glean from just hands on. Already considering the chuck and the extension but it's fun and easy to get started on with what is provided. Would recommend to anyone thinking about getting started in turning.

For $300 what do you expect? American Beauty? 03/16/2017 2:13:00 AM

The control box is somewhat flimsy and can be easily knocked off. Maybe longer wires would allow to mount it under the workbench away from saw dust .The bed extension had to have at least two guide pins for alignment . Small plastic locks, God grant them long life. Motor runs smooth and speed control is ok. AL-X

Looks great 01/26/2017 2:32:28 PM

Everything looks good. Have not had a chance to use it yet. Very pleased with order process and answers to my earlier questions. BTW, can a reversing switch be added to this lathe? It has a DC motor and it would seem to me that a switch and or switch/relay combo having current capability in excess of 10 amps would do the job. Your comments please.

Good Lathe 01/26/2017 6:02:04 AM

Had lathe for a over a month and use it almost every day. This is my first lathe and am still going thru a learning curve on how to best secure stock for turning, keeping tools sharp and so forth. Broke the tool rest being too aggressive on a large hunk of hardwood. Had to make a custom tool rest to fit into deeper bowl cavities. Although it is possible to turn stock 12 inches in diameter, the tool rest body cannot ride under stock that thick. While there are 3 belt pulley speed settings I found using anything beyond the low setting will cause the lathe to vibrate excessively until the stock gets trimmed round and balanced. This with the lathe bolted down to a solid workbench. Once the bowl is turned I can crank up the speed knob for the sanding. Guess if I were turning pens and not bowls from tree chunks these problems would not have occurred. The lathe is well built and I am happy with it.

Great product at a fair price 01/26/2017 2:36:01 AM

This is a great lathe. extremely well made and very well aligned.. HOWEVER, I am on my second one. They come packed in a thin cardboard box and nested in a couple inches of styrofoam. My first one had been dropped upside down from quite a distance onto concrete and the box was damaged. Not only that but the head and tailstocks were badly bend and not usable. As always customer service was great and I got a second one quickly but what a hastle!

Great beginner Lathe 01/26/2017 1:43:17 AM

I got this for Christmas last month, I am a beginner on the lathe. Very easy setup, the lathe runs smooth and quiet, only problem is that I didn't buy enough accessories...

A very nice starter lathe 08/07/2016 1:00:11 AM

This is my first lathe purchase. The T25920 is a nice starter lathe. As a beginner in woodworking, it was very easy to set up and get going. This is not a top of the line lathe as far as quality of workmanship, but it gets the job done at a very reasonable price.
I would definitely recommend this lathe to anyone just getting started. I also bought the bed extension, which is a must if you want to make a ball bat. Happy turning.
