You have complete control of the belt speed. The internally-grounded, variable-speed motor allows you to dial in the exact grind you need whether you're shaping or sharpening. This allows you to find that perfect balance between material removal and minimizing heat.
The sanding frame tilts 90° for horizontal or vertical knife shaping. The tool rest tilts 5°–120°, swivels, and adjusts in and out from the belt. The knife-grinding possibilities here are limitless.
It features a durable graphite-coated platen that reduces friction and can further help to prevent overheating and “bluing” of your knife blade. The platen tilts from -30° to 30° forward and back.
You can also “slack belt-sand” with the platen removed, thanks to the gas strut belt tensioner. This keeps the belt under constant tension while allowing you to deflect it back and forth with the knife blade. The gas strut also allows for quick and easy belt changes.
It comes with a 2" x 42" 120-grit silicon carbide belt, with additional belts are available.
