G0495X 8" x 83" Helical Cutterhead Jointer

The awarding winning 8-inch jointer.

The Grizzly G0495X 8" x 83" Helical Cutterhead Jointer was awarded Best Value and Best Overall by Fine Woodworking Magazine for its combination of features including the 4-row helical cutterhead, easily adjustable parallelogram bed and rack & pinion adjusting fence. It is also the first-ever jointer with a digital height readout!

The cutting action of the helical cutterhead produces minimal tearout and meaning less time sanding your stock and more time planning your projects. The 36 indexable carbide insert cutters can each be rotated three times to expose new, sharp cutting edges.

The G0495X features precise parallelogram table adjustment with easy-to-reach handwheels. With this setup, you get more opportunity for fine adjustment of the infeed and outfeed tables for perfect alignment. Not to be forgotten, the full bed length measures 83" for cutting long and absolutely straight edges.

Like all Grizzly jointers, the G0495X comes with a 1-year warranty which covers parts and assures the unit is free from factory defects. (Consumables are not covered by the warranty.)

The G0495X manual was written by our U.S. based Technical Documentation Department and is packed with useful information.

The Grizzly Customer Service and Technical Support Teams are U.S. based. Parts and accessories for the jointer are available on-line and shipped from the Grizzly parts warehouse in Springfield, MO.

This jointer was worth waiting for! It was nearly perfect straight out of the crate. I jointed some very hard curly maple, and it left a glass-smooth surface with no tear out. Worth every penny. FYI - I don't use the digital read-out: since it's always on, you use up batteries very quickly; and I'm not convinced that the read-out is completely accurate. I use successive very light passes, and that works for me.

Yes! I'd recommend this Grizzly Jointer
I was skeptical at first since Grizzly FB had quite a few negative reviews regarding backorder items, so I did as anyone would do contact customer service directly. within 24Hrs customer service response and notify me if I place an order as specified when shipment receive they will I will get it within a couple of days. I receive the jointer as a promise, shipping called for the delivery appointment, no damage.

Thank you

Amazing Jointer 07/26/2018 6:17:07 PM

First of all let me say the G0495X is an AMAZING jointer. The jointer is very heavy and has a stable platform. It did have a few scratches on the bed near the cutter head, but nothing that would impact the performance of the machine. I could not be happier with the quality. I was very surprised by how quiet this machine is when cutting stock. I flattened a twisted 6 wide piece of cherry and in 3 passes it was as flat as flat can be, no tear-out. VERY impressive. The wheels lift the in feed and out feed tables very smoothly. The machine came perfectly co-plainer despite the condition of the box (More on this later) I checked with a Veritas straight edge and a set of feeler gauges. Perfect as Perfect can be.
That was all the good stuff about my purchase. Grizzly has been great, ONCE I received my order. As many people have found Grizzly has an inventory problem. Many of these items are back ordered. Mine was backordered 3x then finally I said I needed to cancel the order if they could not get the 2 pieces I needed. (I ordered a Spiral head plainer as well) The last time I called they told me the jointerI originally ordered was backordered (for a 4th time) Until December of 2018. My original order was placed in May. As the owner of a production shop I could not wait 8 months for something to ship if it shipped at all. To add insult to injury my order was placed BEFORE these Tariffs went into effect, yet they felt they had to charge me the extra fees; upon hearing there would be extra fees (and after a LONG wait) I told the sales team I would need to cancel the order if I was expected to pay an additional $600, they offered to upgrade my jointer to the G0495x from the G0490 I had ordered as they actually had the 495X in the US, so no tariff. They offered me a good and fair discount on the jointer and I was pleased with that so I ordered both and paid no Tariff fees. Both items shipped a few days later. Now on to the NIGHTMARE that is UPS Freight. UPS scheduled a delivery date on Friday but NEVER showed up. They gave the traditional 4 hour window of time for delivery. But never called to say they were not coming. I called them and complained that I had hired 4 guys to help unload and move these pieces into the shop since we had scheduled the delivery. They apologized (sorry that does not help me pay the 4 guys I had waiting around) and said they would deliver on Monday, they gave me the same 1-5pm window. THIS TIME I called them to confirm it was being delivered before paying 4 guys to stand around AGAIN.. guess what.. NOPE not going to be delivered on Monday as scheduled. (I found out why after the fact more on that in a moment.) So TUESDAY was the new date between 1-5. So Tuesday came and I called and YES! the jointer and plainer were on the truck for delivery. UPS showed up at 5pm. We opened the truck and BOOM I could see WHY they did not deliver on Monday. Someone (note the lack of harsher language) smashed into the Jointer box with a forklift and practically demolished it. THATS why it was not delivered on Monday, they needed to fix the box as best as they could so they could get it on the truck; Fortunately the jointer was not touched not even scratched. It took us 30 minutes to get the jointer off the truck as it was tilted to the left on the pallet and we needed to be careful not to let it fall off the pallet. I will give the highest praise to the UPS truck driver. Despite the condition of the delivery he stayed with us and helped us move both pieces into the shop. So I am thrilled with the Machines, hated the wait, despised the delivery process from UPS freight but had high marks for the UPS driver. Would I do it again? ......Yes, the price and quality of the machines is second to none. We are mostly a Grizzly shop, we have a G0690 Table Saw, a Grizzly Bandsaw, Jointer, plainer and soon a Drill press. Grizzly support is excellent. My only complaint is the fact that they did not ship any Gear box oil for the Plainer and the Jointer did not come with a plug, just a set of 3 wires. ALL of my other 220v machines from Grizzly came with the plug attached, not sure why this one did not. So after hunting around for the additional parts I have everything up and running. If you can stand the backorder process and survive UPS freight, these machines are a great value.

Grizzly advertizes this jointer as the best 8" jointer, bar none. I totally agree. 01/17/2018 2:21:36 PM

The jointer met all my expectations and exceeded several. I had a little problem but Grizzly met this head on and solved the problem. I can say that Grizzly wants the customer to have a machine that is flawless. My hat goes off to Grizzly. Thanks you

Great jounter 01/11/2018 12:17:45 PM

Excellent machine, very little adjustments needed from factory. Beds were Perfectly aligned from factory.
The digital hight adjustment meter is a waste. No on/off switch just runs batteries down. Not really needed on a jointer.

Excellent jointer, comes assembled and crated better than other Grizzly machines I have purchased in the past. Mine was dialed in right from the start tables within a couple thousandths of being coplaner. Excellent well made machine.

Awesome machine 05/06/2017 10:25:06 PM

This jointer is everything I thought it would be and more! It's very helpful that if comes 98% assembled. It is heavy but worth the work to install it. The helical cutter head is the best thing invented since the power drill! 2/3 of my shop is grizzly and you can't beat the quality for the price!

Great Machine 01/12/2017 9:36:53 PM

Amazing machine, excellent quality. Very little setup to get it going. Very quiet running and the finish on the wood is great. Best of all, no more setting knives. I love this machine, and would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for an 8" Jointer.

Love my Grizzly planer! 07/01/2016 10:20:02 AM

I've had this machine for 5 months now. Every thing about the machine is smooth! Runs graveyard quite. Planes silk smooth. Plenty of power and the quality of cut is tops! The one thing I have to point out is the digital readout is not worth a dime, at least to me. Once you set the depth of cut you never change it? At least I never do. Unless you have projects where you need to change the DOC many times you wont find the digital readout worth the trouble. I found it very hard to program and harder to figure out how to use. The readout runs on batteries. They are not recharged by the machine. They have to be monitored and replaced just like any other batteries. My jointer is against a wall so access to the battery cover is difficult. I checked the readout when I set the initial DOC. The next time I looked at it, it was two weeks later and the screen was blank the batteries were dead! Just left it dead and have never looked at it or needed to since. Great great machine just the readout is not for me. Highly recommended for all 8 inch jointing projects. I love my 495x and would buy it again in a heart beat!!! Thank you Grizzly for another great addition to my all Grizzly shop! 9 machines!
