This sander is doing everything that I had hoped. Quality of end product has improved many times over!
This is not a precision machine and I didn't expect it to be. The top is "as cast" aluminum and as such is not exactly flat. There was a mismatch between the foldable section and the fixed section that tended to catch the edge of the work piece. It was small enough that I was able to correct it by bending it without breaking the piece. It is as good as I expected and it works great for my applications.
I make three sizes of Adirondack Lawn chairs and they have many inside and outside curved surfaces that require edge sanding and shaping. The Grizzly T27417 Oscillating Edge Belt and Spindle Sander does an excellent job on these these curved surfaces. This machine runs fairly quiet, has plenty of power, and has a very good dust collection system. It is easy to change to the different spindle sanding drums but I find that I can do all of my work, so far, using the belt sanding device.

Very versatile with belt and assorted spindle sizes. They were VERY responsive when I requested a replacement tilting table which was warped slightly. Greta customer service. There is a tool for every job and this one does what it is designed to do very well.
The adjustable angle table on the front of the machine would not fully raise up to 90 degrees with the belt. Easy to fix in a couple of ways, which I did.
I used this machine about 4 times for light duty work and it starting putting out acrid burning rubber smelling smoke - this is with a high powered vacuum attached to it
You get what you pay for. This is not to be compared with grizzlys real edge sanders, but for the price it's hard to beat. The material stop block is a flimsy metal bracket.
Its exactly what I wanted. Versatile because of the belt and the spindle option which changes very easily, dust collection system is very effective as well.
I had been looking at one of these for some time. I did my homework and as always picked the Grizzly quality over the competitors. I am very pleased with this tool and it works better than I thought it would.
Hi , I am happy with this product , how ever a week later before i got use it ,I got another catalog in the mail advertising the exact sander ,It was not a grizzly brand for 199,95 ,was kind of bummed out , Asking if grizzly would prize match some items A response would be appreciated
Noisy bastard and the slots for the washers are not deep enough. Lost three already. Had my other sander ten years never lost one.
Bought this to make pistol grips. For a very reasonable price point, it completely fills the bill.
I bought this to replace a Craftsman spindle sander that I had purchased on Craig's list. I'm giving it four stars because I think the value and the quality of this product are equal or better than the price. That being said, it would be nice if the table was larger and the base was a casting to make it heavier. Both would make the sander more expensive. One thing about the product that bothers me about other products too is that when the articulating table is placed in the flat position it was not level with the nonmovable part of the table. I think manufacturers should design their products so there isn't a permanent stop. I had to onscrew the bracket that swings the table from one side and shim it with a washer to get it in the same plane as the rest of the table. Also, there is a "back stop" that not only gets in the way but could be a finger pincher.. The unit has plenty of power. The belts and the sanding sleeves are very easy to change. You can also go back and forth from the spindle to the belt very easily and quickly. Parts storage on the base is very convenient. and it has good dust collection. Very good for the money.
Bought it as a gift, just set it up. Tried it, seems like a great machine.
This is small enough to fit in our garage with all the other tools and makes a great addition to our woodworking. Haven't used it much yet but so far so good.
Love this machine!!!! So useful...one of those things you wondered how you did it without it..money well spent.
It arrived very quickly after my order and the small amount of assembly was accomplished quickly and easily. It's a solid machine with a powerful motor. The only problem I had with it was that I could not get the adjustable table square to the spindle/belt. Even in the highest position, I was only sanding the lower portion of my workpiece. I needed to place some shims between the adjusting arms and table. That allowed the table to rotate slightly higher and made it square to the belt and spindle. Other than that it is a great machine.
Set up time is 1/2 hour. I've been using it steadily ever since I got it. Great product for the price
I purchased the spindle sander a few weeks ago and the one problem I have are the plastic inserts on the table. The inserts do not fit tight and are slightly lower than the table and my the pieces I try to sand keep getting caught on the lip caused by the plastic inserts not being the same thickness as the table.
There are many machines like this on the market, If you do your google research you will see that this is the one to get.I am glad I went with this one.
I received sander on July 20, 2017, un packed it, set it up.
In laying out all parts and packages in box, the 13 mm Spindle Nut Wrench part # T 27417 was not enclosed.
I called Grizzly the same day and was told a Spindle Nut Wrench would be sent.
This has not been received.

I purchased this belt and spindle sander about a month ago. Unit was exactly what I expected, I put it use that evening shaping knife handles I had made and it did the job wonderfully. I've used it a several times and had no issues at all. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.
With a few adjustments and modifications (filing rough milled edges, widening screw holes to allow bed to be square to the sanding belt, adding a strip of electrical tape to idler drum to help with belt tracking) this unit functions very well.
Would buy again over the big orange store version.
This Sander from Grizzly is just what I needed for my small woodworking shop. The sander works Great, no problems at all.
Its very easy to setup from spindle to the belt sander.
Adjustments are easy, and all the accessories store on the machine itself. It works well!
I bought the drum sander and it is an excellent piece of equipment for the price. I already corrected a neck that I cut wrong.
This is one of the most cleverly designed and versatile tools i have ever bought for my home or professional shop.
They thought of everything.
I'm very pleased with this purchase. Even better than I imagined. Everything works perfect.
The belt sander is a very clever and useful addition to this machine. I bought it mainly for the
oscillating sander but find myself using the belt sander just as much. Would definitely recommend!
This is a perfect combination sander. I will never use my disc sander again. The change over between belt and spindle is fairly easy but I mostly use the belt sander The only thing that would make this a better sander would be to have a miter slot for 90 degree sanding.
Should have bought this sooner. Results are much better. More even shape and less hand sanding.
I bought this item for my son in law for Xmas and he loved it. Now, let's see what he makes!
I just received this sander this week after ordering it over two months ago. The reason I purchased this as opposed to the well regarded Rigid oscillating belt sander was because this unit is smaller than the Rigid. I unpacked the unit and noticed that the spindle wrench and two of the spindle washers were missing. I then got the unit up and running in a few minutes and it seems to be running well. One very minor complaint about the design is that you knock your knuckles into the belt tension lever when turning belt tracking knob. Besides the size, one other advantage this has over the Rigid is that the locking knob tightens clockwise, as opposed to counter-clockwise on the Rigid (as reported by Rigid reviewers). The manual is very detailed and easily understood. In fact, it provides very detailed and illustrated instructions on how to replace drive belts and motor brushes. Hopefully, I won't have to do either any time soon.
