W1877 13" Portable Planer with Spiral-Type Cutterhead

Fixed-base planer finish quality in a portable, benchtop planer platform.

The Shop Fox W1877 13" Portable Planer features a spiral-type cutterhead for smoother finishes, quieter operation, and less maintenance compared with straight-knife cutterheads.

The 26 two-sided, high-speed steel (HSS) inserts sit square to the axis of the cutterhead, with the cutting edges perpendicular to the workpiece. HSS has been heat treated for hardness and wear resistance, which keeps a sharp edge longer than other carbon steels.

This allows you to quickly set the cutterhead to 6 pre-set heights from 1/8" to 1-3/4".

A convenient thickness scale located on the top of the machine helps you keep your eye on your planing progress.

The extension tables fold up for quick transporting and storage.

The cutterhead height lock allows for consistent production work.

The four-sided T32739 replacement inserts are available and sold in packs of ten when the stock inserts get dull. All 26 will need to be replaced at the same time.
